Pregnancy=bad taste in your mouth???

posted 18th Oct '08
I have a strange question for all you prego mommies.....do you find that you have a really bad taste in your mouth all day? I am 8 1/2 weeks along and I have had bad trouble with dehydration, I have to get fluid infusions just about weekly now because I cant keep water down! Could dehydration be causing this metalic bad taste in my mouth or am I just nuts!!!

I'm not sure but it may be from the weekly IV solution.

But pregnancy can cause your taste to change...for example, foods that I normally love, I couldn't stand during pregnancy.

i had it too, i guess some ppl have it early in pregnancy. doctors dont usually aknowledge the fact that its a smptom of pregnancy, but too many women experience it in early prenancy for it to be ruled out as a real cause. it goes away..are you on prenatals?? i honestly think its from the vitamins...

I know about the "metal taste" I have always gotten that metal taste, and then after I get it, I make friends with mr. potty. I haven't really had it much during my pregnancy.

Eureka! I think it might be from the prenatals, I didn't think of that, b/c I stopped taking them b/c they were making me sick. Since I've stopped taking them, I don't get the "metal taste". Not that I would advise anyone else to stop taking them. I did only because my grandmother, mother, older sister, & I all get "sick" when we take them. I do, however take Flintstones instead, along with this other stuff dr gave me...that's causing some nasty heartburn.

Thank you so much for all your replies! I dont think it would be the prenatal I take TONS of vitamins due to having gastric bypass and they contain way more than one prenatal. I know that when they give you an IV flush you get that gross metal taste inyour mouth...I wonder if the saline solution in the IV fluids is doing it. But then again lots of you have had it and werent getting fluid infusions. I have never heard of it being a symptom....now I am curious, I am going to look into it! Thanks for all your responses! I dont feel so all alone, I just hope my breath doesnt smell like it tastes lol.

Repliva 21/7, it's an iron med.
