If you're not going to bother reading the article in its entirety, don't bother commenting. I'm just curious as to what others think about this, and if they can offer any facts refuting these statements.

This article states he is the most liberal, but how can that be concluded, Obama voted the liberal way 65 out of 66 votes but remember because he was running for president he missed a third of the votes.Clinton, meanwhile, voted the liberal way 77 out of 82, and John Mccain he didn't vote enough toget a good rating because he missed more than half of the votes in both the economic and foreign-policy categories and social issues, like immigration, so he was scored as a conservative. I hate when the blog, and media fail to report sufficient data. Because they want to potray obama as a socialist. Want to talk about socialism how about that 700 billion dollar bailout? National socialism if you ask me. I Like that you posted this article and I can appreciate it, But I am still voting for Obama. because How can John McCain miss that many votes in 2007? He failed to do his job as a senator, is thatthe kind ofwork ethicI want as president? I'll lead when my schedule permits?? I don't think so.

How did the 700 billion dollar bailout give workers ownership of the means of production? I'm missing how that is construed by people as "socialism" and not "robbery." I do not think that word means what you think it means.

And the article? It's a whole lot of unfounded assumption. Meh. Takes a phrase and makes up this whole paranoid definition to it and repeats it enough that some people might take it as truth.

Obama is not a socialist. It would be awesome if he were, but here we have the capitalist party and the other capitalist party. And they are both typically conservative and authoritarian. There's not a real left wing here in the USA that gets taken seriously, it's just different sides of the same crooked coin.

Skeptical. There seems to be a lot of grasping at straws and putting words into people's mouths in this article. And no sources.

I'm still voting for Obama. And for the way the polls are looking...so is most of America

Guess we'll take our chances with a 'socialist'

I read it and I find most of the information pointless.
When teaching college he mentioned specific words of Alinsky's book-is that not what a good professor does? Gives their students all the views-it does not mean he agrees with it at all.let alone 100%.
His father was a socialist. What does that prove? The man did not even raise him? And even if he would have-not every person agrees with their parents beliefs.
He visited the tribe of his father. Once again, what does that prove? That he was intertested in his heritage.
Do you feel that our econmoy is in trouble? If you do than I think it is not hard to see that things need to change. Are we going to become a completely Socialsit country if Obama is elected? No. Will he try to change things to help benefit the poor? I absolutely believe he will try. It does not mean it will happen-remember we do have a system of checks and balances in place. And yes I will be voting for Obama. McCain and especially Palin are not in touch with what America needs in my opinion.

Again, posting an incredibly biased source that does not take into account so much of the data that contributed to him being "this most liberal senator" does not have legs to stand on.

Is Obama liberal? Of course. Is he a socialist? NO. Its funny that everyone was callign him a socialist becuase he wanted to cut middle class taxes and raise corporate taxes and those of wealthy and becuase he wanted to provide affordable health insurance, but McCain wanting to socialize the housing industry does not make him a socialist.

That's not the only reason he gets called a socialist. Many MANY of the liberal tenets are also socialist tenets, one is just more extreme.

He wants to have the government control the oil industry. That's a socialist tenet.

He whines about how our current system isn't 'fair' to poor people, and he wants to help make it fair by giving them more welfare in the form of additional tax credits. That's a socialist idea.

And if redistributing wealth to the poor wasn't socialist enough, he wants to severely punish people who make lots of money.

The marginal tax rate under Obama would go up significantly for EVERYONE.

Universal health care: Obama knows that we can't afford a UHC, but I'm sure that if he were given that option, that would be his number one choice.

I'm sure that ideally, college would be free in Obama's world. Go look at the countries that offer free college, their colleges suck.

Obama is a socialist who hides under the term "fairness".

In Obama's mind, the rich = bad, the poor = votes he can buy.

I think it's very interesting that Obama pretends to want to redistribute the wealthy people's money to help the poor and yet he wasn't willing to give that much to charities himself. Do as I say, not as I do.

I just wanted to add that I DO think that socializing the housing industry is a step towards socialism, and I am completely against it. I am completely against the bailout and any government take over of private companies.

So then mcCain is a socialist too, right?

I believe in UHC and Obama's tax plan, but I am not a socialist. Do I believe in some of the tenets of socialism? Yes. But lieking some of the principles does not mean that I believe in al of them or that I am a socialist.

Just like I think some of the teachings of Christianity are great, but I am not a Christian.

McCain's one idea to socialize the housing industry isa socialist tenet, I said that. But this is like saying that since Obama doesn't want to allow gay marraige, he must be a conservative.

Having 1 plan that is socialist vs having dozens is different, in my book, but you can call it whatever you want.

I am sure you know there are different levels of socialism. Do you honestly think we would ever end up with true state socialism? I personally do not see that happening.
