Placenta

I think this is where this should be posted.....


I was talking to my doula, and she offers a service where she will take your placenta, dry it and make it into a powder, then put it into capsules to help with PPD.  Has anyone ever done this?

I have seen it,and it grosses me out. Many women who have done it though say how wonderful it works...

uhhh i havent heard of that...but my mom took my brother's placenta and planted a tree over it....then my youngest sisters placenta made house in her freezer for 6 years before she threw it out....

never heard of that.....too weird for me!!

My friend started a "natural" boutique and sold these kits..I told her no thank you and then she started telling me all the benefits. I am very open to listening,very closed to taking back my placenta.

She mentioned the tree thing too. She also said that some people will make an ink print of it and frame it. It's supposed to look like a "tree of life" with the umbilical cord being the trunk... 

My husband was incredibly grossed out during this conversation. especially when she pulled out a stuffed model to show us how they got the branches and stuff for the print. *lol*

*LOL* that is a horrible way to find out about that!!! 
Don't you love how moms can still be so nonchalant about stuff like that though...

I think that seeing one is fascinating,I have only seen pics,but I would love to like ask my doc if it is possible to see mine,that is about as close as I want to get to mine.
