Pregnant with IUD?

Hi, I had the IUD put in a little after my daughter was born (not sure the exact time) Shes 10 months old and im still breastfeeding,. I havent had a period in a while, which isnt that weird cus they said that will happen with the IUD , but Lately Ive been eating non stop, craving things,and peeing more than usual. Is it possible I am pregnant? If so is there any risks with the IUD in place? I have tried to feel for the string as they told me and cant feel it.

Did you have unprotected sex within the first three weeks of having it in?

maybe its the IUD because i have those exact same symptoms.

Yes there are a lot of risks if your pregnant on the IUD. You need to find out ASAP and then the IUD Must be removed the day you find out your pregnant.

The misscarrige rate is as high as %50

When I had my IUD inserted, I was told that if you could not feel the string it may be dislodged and would not protect against pregnancy. They advised me to call and schedule an ultrasound to determine if it had become dislodged.

If you can't feel the string, it could have expelled itself or got lodged somewhere.

IUDs are 99.2-99.9% effective but pregnancies can happen. If pregnant while using the IUD, the risk of an ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage increases. If you think you're pregnant, you should go get a pregnancy test ASAP.

IUD's are effective as soon as they are placed, at least I know Mirena is. & Yes, there is always a chance you are pregnant if you are having sex.


I can NEVER feel my strings either. I always ask my BF if he can feel them during sex, lol.

How long ago did u get the IUD? And how long have u had the symptoms? Mine just started. and got the IUD a few months after Carmen was born

I got the IUD in july and all this has just happend within the last week or so

lol no. But I cant remember if i did or not. Either i had sex b4 my 6 weeks after the baby or the month b4 i was supposed to after the IUD

I would get it checked then... You or your SO should be able to feel it with a finger down there.

Oh.. I have Paragard.. the 10 year one...

I was told I have to have it inserted during a period.. and not to have unprotected sex within three weeks.

That may be because Paragard does not give off the hormomes that Mirena does.

yeah Ill have to have my man check. Im prolly just stressing and thinkin about it too much

Perhaps... I was told for Mirena is was reccomended that it was placed during a period, but I didn't have mine yet, so I got it placed anyway.

They told me it was effective after placement, but it was smart to wait til my re-check appt. to have unprotected sex in case my body didn't tolerate it & expelled it or if it wasn't placed right.
