babies with big heads

posted 13th Oct
So, today at Piss' 9 month appointment, His head was measuring 19 and 1/4 inches. LOL his head is off the charts. THe doctor looked and that's what he said.   He didn't seme concerned he just chuckled a little and said "lots of brain!" So I'm not too concerned about it, I was just wondering if other mommies of babies with large heads, were their doctors concerned at all?

Ryleigh's head has always been pretty big. Her pedi wasn't really concerned though because it is proportional to her body. She just gets a big head from her daddy's side. lol.

Braden has always had a big head but his doctor says the same thing... more brains. I think Braden might finally be growing into his lol

Lol...yeah, more room for his brain to grow. He will be smart if he is anything like his mama.

LOL I always told Rick that if we were to have kids together, they'd have big heads because of him.

lol. Dallas has a big head too
At his 4 month checkup his was 17 3/4inches.
I can't remember what his percentile was, but she wasn't concerned because it was the same with the rest of his measurements.

Xzavier's head was always in the 90th percentil or above. When the pedi first told me that, I freaked a little, and said "Oh my god... pretty soon he won't be able to hold his head up!", and he just laughed, kept on writing, and said "ah, well... we'll just fit him for a neck brace."
Lol...
Eventually he grew into his head... a little anyway. Him and his daddy have huge noggins.

Piss has never had a problem holding his head up. He was on track holding it up when he was first learning how and it doesn't hinder him at all now.

This baby does. But he's a huge baby. I'm all for the cute chunky monkey types, but this one is beyond chunky. But then again so was my cousins baby, he weighed like almost 20lbs at 3 months old.

My sons 1 year checkup, his head was 21 cm. The nurses measured it 3 times because they couldnt believe it was so big! Then the DR measured it again and said that if he wasnt as smart as he is, she'd be concerned. She said he just has a big head !

Caden actually has a small head--10th percentile (I forget the measurement). When I asked about it, the doc just said--"some people have small heads--I do, too!" As long as head size is consistant, they don't tend to worry about it.

Emery has a monster head too. We just went in today and it's on the charts again for the first time since she was born.

They were a little concerned at her 2 month appt because her head was SO out of preportion with her weight/height and we had to do aCT scan, but I think it was partially because of the shape of her head. (They were worried the bone plates had fused prematurely)
