How Kaden's MRI went.

So, we go to the hospital around 12:25. We got into the MRI waiting room at about 12:45ish. And the horror began (for me.). They gave him the medicine to sedate him. And, he starting chocking. He was super fussy because it tasted so bad. The nurse was kinda a bitch/weirdo, IMO. When he started chocking my first reaction was to pick him up and help him, and the nurse was like "he's okay, leave him alone." UGH.

Then she told me the that they had to start an IV for a dye they run through his body to see more stuff on the MRI. I was livid. I told her that the nurse that called me said there would be NO IV at all. And she was like "yeah, I'm sure it's frustrating to hear two different things." Well, she poked and literally DUG for Kaden's vein. She couldn't find his vein in one arm, and went to his other arm. Still poked and dug and she couldn't find his other vein. Another thing I'm pissed about. In the beginning I had to step outside because I'm not good with his shots, so I know I wouldn't be good with an IV. After the first two minutes of him SCREAMING I had to go back into the room and at least try to comfort him. He was crying so hard his throat started to go dry, so he had a horrible sounding cry. And, I was already crying, so I'm sure that didn't help.

I couldn't go back to the MRI room with him. So, I sat in the room and waited for my little man to get back. The nurse said he woke up towards the end of the MRI, and started to fuss. So, the whole sedation thing didn't work to well. But, we won't know the results until either later this evening, or tomorrow morning. I'm SO glad this ordeal is almost over.

Oh, poor baby! That nurse sounds like a wretched beast.

That must be so hard, and I won't pretend to know how it feels...but you seem to be a strong mommy, and I'm hoping for great results!

When they try to dig for IVs with Michaela, after the second one, I push them back and tell them that is enough.

They can get someone else, or give up.

For her last MRI she didn't get an IV or sedation, I gave her a paci with something they call "Sweeties" on it, which is water with a little bit of sugar, and I was right there the ENTIRE time.

I am sorry he had to go through that, and if they are EVER rude to you again, stand up and tell them to back the fuck off.

He is YOUR son.

Oh my gosh, I don't know your story but that sounds awful.

I'm so sorry.

I remember last April my then 11 month old was admitted to the hospital for Rotavirus, and they stuck him 13 times trying to get an IV in, they even tried to get one in his head. 7 different people tried, and I had to leave, I was balling so hard. Then I felt terrible and couldn't figure out where to go, with him or not. It was horrible, so I can totally relate to the IV thing.

I hope you don't have to go through that again, and whatever the MRI was for, I hope it turns out well for your little guy!

Yeah. We got home about 20 minutes ago. He's asleep in his swing now. He'll probably be out for a while. I'm sure all that screaming wore him out.

It was very hard. I'm so happy I had Ryan there. He was so strong and after the second IV attempt he told them no more.

Aww my poor little honey thats horrible, and here i was thinking it would all go smoothe.
Heres hoping all the results come back perfect to make up for that crap you all went through.

WOW! 13 times?! One was enough for me. I don't mind getting IV's, but it hurts me to see my son go through that. My mom is an EMT and she has had someone dig for her veins and she was crying. I can't imagine how it felt for my little guy.

Psh, I thought it was going to go smooth too. We got lunch in the hospital cafeteria beforehand, and I basically wasted a whole patty melt because I was crying the whole time, and I was sick to my stomach.

But, I'll give him a big kiss for you. I just want to cuddle him, but I don't want to wake him up. I felt like I was abandoning him when I didn't go back to the MRI. The doctor that did it told me to just hang out because I was already a mess and the noise and seeing Kaden hooked up to all the machines wouldn't be good for me.

LOL, I hope so. I'm just so mentally exhausted about this whole situation. I want it to be over.

Oh yeah it can be scary, i remember joshua has a DMSA scan which is like a mini mri and they didnt tell me how they get a 2 year old to stay still and i was thinking ok so maybe they just give them toys or some mild sedation.... NO they wrapped him in a sheet and TAPED him to the bed the put tape around his middle and his legs and thats how they restrained him and all he did was look into my eyes and scream and ask me to help him.. he didnt come near me for days and he had nightmares for weeks.. it still chokes me up thinking about that and its been over 2 years
