Projects

Okay a little background.  My state is gay.  Even though we sometimes struggle from pay check to pay check we are denied any help other then medical.  Well Malia is 4.  I wanted to put her into day care/preschool so that she would be more prepared for kindergarden.  Well, Ive called I dont know how many people and they all want at least one and a half of my pay checks to pay for child care.  Which I have bills to pay so thats out of the question.  But anywho, I get to teach my daughter.  Which is not that big of a deal.  Well sort of when I have no idea what to teach her besides the typical ABC's and 123's and shapes.  Well last night we were working on the letter A and I came to realize, this is a lot harder then I thought.  What on earth am I suppose to teach her about the letters??  She knows how to count 1-10 on her own, she knows A-E and starts going off saying key gee after words.  We taught her 1-10 5 at a time, so Im thinking about doing 5 at a time on ABC's but, I still need some idea's on projects to teach her.  We did an A collage last night.  I have coloring pictures for her, but I dont know what else to do... any ideas??

My daughter does one letter and number a week at her preschool. They also do puzzles and apparently learn the days of the week and months because she's started reciting them lately. Go to Wal-Mart and look in the book section. The usually have little work booklets that you can buy. They work on shapes and sizes, word association, Sounds the letters make, ect...

Ive got tons of workbooks.  I just wanted something that would teach her a little bit more then the booklets would.  Such as hands on projects.  I learned a lot more when I did things hands on, and seeing how she takes after me in every aspect, I figured that she would probably learn a little bit more with hands on ideas.  Puzzles I dont have, not sure if I want to either since the pieces end up at all ends of my house!

If you go to like a book store such as barns and noble or boarders they have some great books that are made for teachers. They have them for any age. Basically it gives you different lesson plans and ideas of how to teach children certain things. They have many hands on projects for them to do. I think that would be really helpful for you if you are wanting to teach her things. These are the books that teachers get to help them in their classrooms.

ya. For one of my classes we have to look at these type of books and write reveiws on them and such. I know some of them have excerpts online that you can find. Amazon might also have some of them for pretty cheap  ...or if you have a library they might have them there!!! Good luck
