My ring finger hurts!

So since getting married I've only taken off my wedding ring a handful of times. It's been on basically everyday for almost two years. Well, since Saturday the skin where the ring usually is has gotten really raw, red and scaly. So bad that it even hurts to bend my finger.

The same thing started happening to my sisters ring after a couple of years, Is it the rings? Are we supposed to be taking them off more often? Cleaning them more often? I feel naked without it  

Something you touched probably got under there, and didn't wash off when you washed your hands. Take it off and give it a breather. Just don't go to a singles bar in the meantime. 

ETA* Clean the ring also, with something gentle.

hmm I'm not sure. I have never taken mine off at all and never had any problem with it. It's been on for years now.

What type of metal is your ring?

it might be the metal, but mine, just gets dry so i put lotion on alot, but other than date no problems, mine is a 10 karat, shit and i just looked at it and its bent....damn it, now i gotta tell my hubby, oh well, his is bent too.....lol

Ive been married 7yrs. I hardly ever take mine off. You could have hit your finger hard, or got something on your finger and didnt get whatever clean enough.

Mine does this too. I just take it off for the night. And that's the best time to go to the bar!  

It could be from the space underneath...

I had a ring that I wore everyday (and took off at nite) and because of the spacing at the front the moisture would get stuck under there and made my finger super red, dry and scaly...

Try putting some cream on it (like you would use for excema), that should clear it up in a few days...!

it does have space so that makes sense. and your description sounds just like my finger, I thought you told me to put sour cream on it though
