Do you have to lose your mucous plug to be dialated?

Just curious. I don't THINK I've lost my plug yet (I saw it with my first) but I am as of last Friday 1cm dialated and 70% effaced....but no visual of any plug? Did i miss it?

i was at a 3 when i lost mine

Sometimes it doesnt come out til you are fatther open... like 3 cm or so, or its possible it came out while you were bearing down going to the bathroom and you never knew it, and flushed it down. It can also come out gradually, and you might not notice it then either. Ya just never know! I never saw my mucus plug with my daughter, but I know it came out at some point... lol

Probably   But its ok, its not a reliable indicator of labor anyhow, if it comes out too soon you'll just make another one!

I didn't lose mine until they broke my water.
