high chairs for toddlers. help. please.

posted 12th Oct
i have the eddie bauer wooden high chair for ava. its great and matches my pub style table almost perfectly in shade, and can fit right under it.
(my exact one)
my problem is i absolutely hate cleaning it. it never looks completely clean because crap gets tuck between the slats and junk. i am a clean freak and like things to be spotless, and it is very difficult and time consuming to say the least.

im thinking about putting it on craigslist and getting a different one, but i cannot seem to find one that would be easier to clean and still look decent. im pretty much over the girly stuff and overly baby looking. plus, she is 13 months and not a baby anymore. well.. ok i wont go that far!! lol

any suggestions? should i just stick it out? how long were your children in their highchairs??

its really frustrating!

We have this one and it's really easy to clean.

But, the tray really doesn't fit in the dishwasher like it says and it only comes with one tray.

Do you have an Ikea anywhere near you?

They have one for $25 that is all platic- looks cheap, too, I suppose. But it's 100 plastic, the tray and legs remove, and you can pop the whole thing in the dishwasher! I'm getting that so I can bring the highchair with us when we go visit family, etc.

I just bought a booster chair for the table when mine was around a year old.

They're super easy to clean, and the tray just pops off and fits in your dishwasher. There's no cracks or anything in this one for the food to really get crammed in, either.

there was one my mom bought for my nephew that came in handy. it was like a booster seat that strapped onto one of our dining chairs and had a removeable tray. she got it from walmart and it was super easy to clean

I also have the Fisher price healty home booster seat and love it. We have been using it as our travel high chair (we travel almost every weekend) and also the chair we use to eat out. I have also packed it in a suit case with my daughter's toys for a flight to IL and it held up very well and fit in a normal suit case. We now use it at home to and it is super easy to clean it folds up for travel very nice and does not look dumb when we go out toeat when I carry it in. Love it best money I spent on it. My daughter is 21 mos ,27 lbsand still has a ton of room in it as well

Ok I may not make sense here lol But here goes.

Do you have anywhere that sells like little handheld steam cleaning machines? Not for clothes or anything....

I have one for my daughters highchair and love it! It makes getting the crusty bits off so much easier. Plus if you can find one cheap enough it'd save you having to buy a new highchair.

I have the one that is the 'space saver' highchair. The seat cover is vynl and just slips right off for easy cleaning. No cracks or sneaky places to collect food at all! The back piece can also be removed to make it just a booster seat when she gets older, although my 3 year old still likes to sit it it with the back on.

my sister has that one. she liked it for when my nephew was a baby. i wasnt sure how it would be with a toddler??

but i guess if i ever have another child i could use it then, as well.
but who knows if that will ever happen. lol

Well like I said, my 3 year old likes it! She doesn't eat in it or anything, but she likes to use it as a chair in the living room (we take it out of the big chair) and sometimes she even uses the tray and colors in there. Or she sits in it at the table to color or whatever. I'm sure she wouldn't use it at all if she didn't see her brother in it, but she fits, so who cares! lol
