yeah, and if you're like me, the sperm can live inside of you for up to a week. It depends on how much mucus your body produces and how hospitable it is to the sperm.

Usually a HPT will be accurate after 14 days. People who are ttc test 14 days after ovulation. That would roughly be when their period would be due. Max that sperm can live in you body is seven days. So I guess that means that it could take you up to 21 days to get a positive result (that is if you don't know if you ovulated). Are you ttc?
