Dora the Explorer and etc. means proud Mommy!

posted 12th Oct
Ok. Use to be when I was in school, nothing wouldirritate me more than to be babysitting and the child watching the shows like Dora. Trinity is 22 months old, and the child if you talk through it with her can count to 10 in English, Spanish, and say her ABC's. I'd like to keep working with her on it, I think it's great that she's actually learning Spanish, especially so young. Does anyone have any idea how I can go about teaching her other things? I'd love to further her education, it this second language, and the only way she's going to learn it is at home, because of course they don't offer it any other school but the high school. So when she starts preschool or elementary. I just want to keep her learning experience going!

books and videos in spanish....do you speak any spanish? also word cards around the house...like on the bed, chair, table, etc...put the words in english and spanish and a picture and then say then in both languages...thats one of the ways we learned the second language in middle school....and im a preschool teacher and everything in our classroom is labeled (english) but still....

A lot of daycares and preschools incorperate second languages. You can call around and find out where they will teach them near you. We sign and speak english, so it was important that Kailyn goes to a daycare that also uses sign language, and she does. It definately helps to reinforce the signing we use at home and I have noticed a positive change since enrolling her in her current center.

I took two years of Spanish in high school. Only one year was required but I enrolled in two years of it. I loved it. We do have flash cards around here. The only problem about the preschools around here, is they don't do anything like that. Not the ones in this county though. I might look around at the surrounding counties to see if they do it. But I just know in this small town they don't do it, and that sucks honestly. But then again the county that I live in is basically a small town that doesn't have a good educational system.

Well what was wrong with saying that? It seems so much more self explanitory(sp). That'd confuse me.

Not really sure if this belongs here but I got Caidence Diego Memory Match Cards at the dollar store and I pick like 5 different animals out of the deck and we play the memory match. When she finds a animal I ask her what it is and what sounds it makes.

I've worked every since I've been able to legally. And so I never really had time to spend with Trinity to do anything like that. And with this pregnancy, I've been off work since I've found out. And her father, Lord knows, has never taken the time with her to do stuff like that. And maybe I'm just really easily fascinated or something, but I love it when she learns new stuff. It's so funny, I have a tattoo on my lower back and it's just tiger eyes, with the coloring around it, but you don't even see the whole head on it. She'll come up behind me raise my shirt tail up to see it and say "Kitty cat, Meow!" It's just so funny!
