Has anyone else's baby done this?

posted 12th Oct
Please tell me I am not the only one whose baby has done this at some point...

My daughter will be 4 months old in a week, and this past Thursday she started this thing where she literally SCREAMS out of nowhere, just like she is in pain or like someone is pinching her. She was napping yesterday afternoon in her swing, she woke up and started looking around then right out of nowhere she screamed at the top of her lungs with tears and everything. Then she did the same thing on and off Thursday night. But it's like she'd scream, then a few minutes later she'd calm down and then be nothing but smiles and goos and ahhs, just as happy as can be, but then a few minutes later start crying again. She also did this Friday night while my mother-in-law had her.

It sounds just like she is in pain... I thought maybe she was getting a little diaper rash, but she's fine there, she wasn't hungry or wet or anything... The only thing I noticed is that when she screamed like that she would get sweaty, I assume that was from the crying.

Usually I can tell her cries from each other and what she needs but I have absolutely no idea what to do for her when she does this besides trying my best to comfort her. These "fits"don't last for that long, the one yesterday was for about 10 minutes, although the one she had Thursday night was on and off for about 2 hours. She seems to have them later in the day, in the morning/during the day she is perfectly fine.

Does anyone have an idea of what it could be? She has never acted like this until now.

gas pains were awful for my daughter... we lived on gas drops and gripe water for a very long time... Especially if it comes and goes like that, I'd guess that's what it is, try extra tummy time, the pressure from laying on their tummies helps pass the gas..

My daughter did the same, and I noticed when I picked her up, she would stop. It was her testing the waters to see how fast someone would pick her up because other family members had held her for such a long time, she thought she needed to be held. I dont know if yours is the same, but good luck

sounds like it's possible it could be gas, especially since it only happens later in the day... that or maybe teething??

thank you   well from day 1 we tried not told hold her all the time so she wouldn't get iused to it, obviously we would held her as needed, don't get me wrong i'm not saying we never held her.. but she when she wants to be held she'll let you know, and when she wants to just lay down she'll let you know also. she still screams either way if i'm holding her or not..

I just pick her up and cuddled her a bit. Then she calms down. It's almost like she saw something scary and i just missed it, lol. But I don;t know why she does it.
