Birthing Ball?

posted 11th Oct
Any other positions you can use it for, other than lying belly-down on it, or sitting on it? Just started trying mine out today.

P.S. I had my back cracked for the first time in four months with the ball, so... already it's pretty awesome on my book.

I love my birthing ball! I think that will help me so much during delivery...I lay on my back on it and do pelvic tilt.

well, it's more of a use than it is a position, but I threw mine at my husband when I was in labor

LMAO that's what hard objects are for. The birthing ball isn't going to do much damage.

Laughing is always good in labor. Lightens the mood, relieves stress, and helps with contractions. I don't see much to be funny about pushing out a whole human out of your vagina though, so I can't imagine that I'll be laughing much.

Yeah, just have him apply pressure while you're kneeling over it.

It was awesome.

There aren't really that many positions for the ball... You can sit on the floor or sorta squat using the ball at your back against the wall, you can stand with the ball on the bed/ couch/ whatever and lean forward onto it, you can kneel on the floor in front of it, or you can sit on it.

Sitting on it is actually really good cuz it's a squatting position which is when your pelvis is at its widest, helping the baby get through faster.

You could also have your DH or support person sit on it and either sit on his legs (the combined weight may be a bit much all at once though) or use his knees for support for your arms and squat between his legs - "the supported dangle" is what they called it in my prenatal class.

That's about it though.
