Similac can not all the way filled!

posted 11th Oct
Has anyone ever had a problem with purchasing Similac and finding the can not completely full? I just opened a can yesterday for my son that we have had in our cabinet for a couple of weeks (we always have a couple cans on hand as back ups) and found that it was only 3/4 of the way full! I tried taking it back to the grocery where my husband bought it but they told me since it was opened and I didn't have the receipt they couldn't do anything for me. They kept asking me why I didn't have the receipt... well for goodness sake, when I or my husband purchase something from the grocery and don't see any initial problems we only keep the receipt long enough for it (the charge) to go through at the bank. Considering this was a can that was actually bought a couple weeks ago, the charge has LOOONG since gone through and my receipt has been trashed. Why in the world would I still hold onto it? And I certainly didn't expect to open the can to find a lot of the powder missing. I'm so frustrated! Formula isn't cheap. Granted, I do only use it to suppliment.... but still! That is my family's cash, my sons food, and someones mistake in the processing of this can or batch!

Formula is packed by weight, so it might be the correct amount, just not look like it. Email the company and tell them. They'll send you a coupon or refund, more than likely.

Is it powder?

I had the same problem with our goodstart, I called them & the lady explained to me that it gets packed in during transit, it's packed by weight so even if it is packed down, it's the right amount, she sent me a gift certificate for a free one anyway.

You could call similac but all they are going to tell you is that it's from the product settleing during transport and such.

they probably kept asking for the receipt because i'm sure some people with WIC try and return formula they dont use for like store credit or something maybe...that does suck though...

Yeah you need to tell the company about it. My mom said when she was in her 20s she bought a bag of chips and when she opened it there was only 3 chips. lol. She was so mad she wrote a letter to the company and they shipped a big box to her house FILLED with snacks they make along with an apology letter. Not sure if that would happen nowadays but it would really be nice.

I went on their site and sent them an email. I don't know where that will get me, but I figure at very least I have brought it to their attention.I don't think it was less because of being pack down... it didn't seem dense or anything. It was loose powder like it always is when I open the can... just much less of it. ::shrug:: We'll see.

I hope you get something back from them!!

I have to say, similac is very good about standing behind their products. They were very helpful and are willing to replace the faulty can. She did assure me the can was filled by weight, though, and did advise it could have gotten packed down in transit (as many of you said).... I suppose this could be. But all the same, I'm pleased they have good representatives that take care of their customers. Good customer service, pleasant phone rep. I really feel that I should write them again to recognize the girls great service provided (I used to work as a phone rep for Macys and know how it is in her shoes... not always an easy job when you have people constantly yelling at you about problems with a product)
