Weight Gain?
posted 11th Oct
Would being pregnant teenagers change the amount of weight we're supposed to gain? I never thought about it affecting the normal 25-35 lb range and then when I went to my first WIC appointment, she said that teenagers should gain more during pregnancy than say a 25 year-old. My doctor never said anything about it, but it would theoretically make sense. Have any of your doctors mentioned anything like that?

Hmm, never heard that before.
I ahve heard the smaller you are in weight, the more weight you should gain.
If you are underweight, they wana see a gain of 40lbs, if you are on target, 30lbs, and if you are overweight, no more than 20-25 lbs.
So I have read anyways, maybe that is what she is saying??
In any case, ask your doctor, they will know better than the WIC people.

I had my daughter at 39 and I was 105 lbs., 5'2" pre-pregnancy,and was told to gain 35-40 lbs. so I think it depends on your PP weight.

maybe she just means that you need to eat more healthy foods because your body doesnt stop growing until 25 and then you need the vitamins to help keeep you both healthy
