Quoting Mrs Spice, HAMommy:“ I would. Get a sleep positioner for her. A mesh one, so if her face gets up next to it, she wont smother ... [snip!] ... the NICU that an infant can get up next to something, and breath in what they just breathed out, and that can cause SIDS too.”

the nurses at the hospital said do not use the sleep positioners they are not safe and have been many cases of active babies suffocating in them and causing deaths. It is supposed to help but it is not safe. They told me nothing in crib but baby not even a blanket

Really? The sleep Pos. that I had was mesh, so if she got up next to it, she could breathe threw it.
I still dont let her have a pillow, or anything to sleep with. I just make sure she dressed warm enough for the night. I know I'm weird. Maybe to much of a worry wort.

They told me none of them were safe not even the mesh ones, to not use them just because they are for sale does not mean they are safe. (nurses words not mine) Cause I asked why they could sell them then and she said because people buy them.

Quoting I love my boys!!!!:“ SIDs means Sudden Infant Death Its when a baby jsut passes away with no rhyme or reason. a good friend of mines lil one died from SIDs at 6months. No one knows how or why.”

OMG. That is so sad. I couldn't imagine something happening to my baby. God, I can't wait until he is past the SIDS stage.

Wow, I was told by the DR. at the NICU that mine was safe.

It is many things.

Cigarette smoke, sleeping on the belly, on their sides, suffocating by getting to close to the edge of the crib/bassinet, loose blankets, and some babies just stop breathing.

No one really knows what it is, it just happens.

That's why they tell you not to have bumpers on a crib, and to have absoulutly no blankets in there. and to always watch them, if they roll over to put them back on their backs. my hospital actually gives you a sleep positioner when you leave.

Your 2 week old rolls over?
Or you place her on her belly?

My friends 11 month old just died of SIDS. And back in January i had another friend lose her 7 week old to SIDS.

Its devastating. Both of them are just completely wrecked over it.

It's always hard losing a child, but I can't imagine not knowing exactly why.

Will alwaysrolls onto his side since he was a week old but only made it all the way to his stomach once. Everytime I put him down when I check on him he is on his side. I always put him back but 20 mins later he is on his side again.
