Breastfeeding.

Hello, everyone. My name is Leesuh, and I'm 38 weeks and counting. It doesn't seem like my little one wants to leave her comfort zone. Anyways, I was just wondering how many women have or are planning to breastfeed. Or if any of you might have some tips. I'm going to take a shot at it, and any advice would be appreciated. A lot of people think I'm nuts of course, but it's very beneficial for the baby, and I feel like I could atleast give it a go. So, I'm sticking to my decision regardless of their opinions. Of course some days it's going to hurt. I mean come on your boobs are rock hard and sensitive to the touch, but it's for the baby's benefit. Not that it doesn't have some pros for mom, but it honestly has more pros than cons. Anyways, that's all. Let me know what you think and any advice will be appreciated.

It was extremely painful for me for about a month the first days my nipples were bleeding. The best advice I can give you is if you are going to breastfeed do not supplement with formula you need your baby to only get milk from you to build your supply up. Use lanolin if they get chapped. But it was uncomfortable for me for a couple months.

oh and if you leak a lot the Lasnioh (spelling?) breast pads are the BEST. They are a lil more pricey then the other brands but are worth it.

I have breastfed and I plan to do it again with Gavin. My husband any everyone else around me at the time with my daughter was TOTALLY against me doing it and my daughter ended up with jaundice and was put under the lights at the hospital. When it came time to feed her I would pump and they already had fed her Similac since my husband told them to do so. When we went home my husband would always give her formula when I was sleeping instead of waking me up. I didn't really have a great pump either so I only breastfed for 3 months. Now I have a hospital pump and we are on a budget so the hubby is all about me breastfeeding. Hopefully this time is better...

My baby is going to be 2 weeks on tuesday and I breastfeed up till a week. It's so time consuming and my poor husband felt so left out cause he wasn't able to feed his son. So I started pumping. The best thing for me so far. I try to drink atleast a gallon of water so I can up my supply. And it has helped tremendously. Good luck hun!

Why would people think you're nuts? I think it's great that you are going to try to breastfeed! It's a little uncomfortable at first because your nipples arent used to it, not to mention you're boobs are engorged! When your baby is born, don't supplement and don't use pacifiers for a while to avoid nipple confusion. If you start using a bottle the baby will want that becuase it's easier. Stick with it if thats what you want to do, you'll do fine

if you want a cheap breast pump go on craigslist and look for the medela one. I got mine for 40$ and they usually run for about 260 ish

why would people think you are crazy? breatfeeding is perfectly natural, and the best thing for your baby.

if you want to breastfeed i agree in not giving them a bottle at all!!! My daughter was in the NICU for breathing issues for her first 4 days. they started her on an IV, then a feeding tube, and a bottle, then they finally let me nurse her. After that, she had already figured out its easier to get milk from a bottle, so after a week of her screaming bloody murder whenever i tried to nurse her, i gave up and put her back on the bottle. Of course its still breastmilk, but still. Just remember that even by pumping, your milk supply won't be as much as if you were actually breastfeeding because the pump doesn't get as much milk out. Luckily, my son is doing great with breastfeeding, so i pump first then feed him so that my supply goes up. and if you dont' wanna spend the $250 for the medela pump if you need one, walmart sells an electric double pump for $150 that works great. Its the lansinoh (SP?) brand.
