Ok. . . My braxton hicks hurt. Dr says they shouldn't but everyone is different. Text book BH you should just feel your tummy get hard for a few seconds and then release and doesn't happen in a pattern

Effacement is when you cervix starts thinning out to open up or it can dialate and efface at the same time. . . your cervix should be as thin as paper and 10 cm dialated to give birth. I sat at 80% effacement for months with no dialation with my first

If you dont know what effaced is, there is probably alot of things you need to research before your baby gets here.

effaced refers to how thinned out your cervix has becomein preparation for delivery. Dialated refers to the diameter of the cervix. 0cm is what it is all the time except for labor. 10cm is fully dialated and that means you can start pushing.

Effaced- your cervix is like a tube. The walls of the tube are thick. They have to thin out and spread apart (dilate)...the thinning out part is the effacement and the spreading apart is dilating.

Just because she doesn't know doesn't mean much of anything. With my first I had read almost every baby book there was- but didn't understand effacement until the dr drew me a picture.

BH are really difficult to know unless you have them.
