oh that's my MIL .. always with the camera in her hand while watching Finn. She would take pictures of everything and develop 95% of them. I mean, at least she had good intentions. She was taking pictures of "normal" things, but it was still annoying. She has 10 photo albums full of just my son from his first 12 months!

I think it is shaming. But some people are more AP than others. It's not something I would do to a small child. Maybe if I had a 14 year old who was throwing fits I'd record them and play it back so they could see how silly it was. But not a small child. That's sad...and to post it on FB

I see people post minute long videos of their kid tantrumming with a 'lol look at xxx how mardy is she!'
I'm like, turn of the smurfing camera and comfort the poor kid! THAT is shaming.

Its the first time ive ever left ds with anyone and left for more than an hour. Its been almost 2 and im freaking out. He is breastfed but doesnt take bottles or anything but loves food so we are hoping he will be ok. This is a good test since im not far away. He is almost 10 months. I just hope he will still trust me when i get home.

What where you doing, anything nice?
DS nursed a lot so i couldn't really leave him the first year. After 13 months he was good for an hour, closer to 2 he was good for 2 hours without me with no affects whatsoever. I tried leaving him for 3 hours at 21 months and it really upset him, it took weeks to get the trust back .. 6 months later and the same duration and he was totally fine. it's nice to leave them sometimes.

I took DH to the emergency dentist. And yea he nurses a lot too which is why i was really surprised. But as long as he doesn't see me leave the room and is being occupied by other people he is ok. I don't seem to have any trust issues so we're good. It was also a test to see how long he can be without me because our anniversary is next friday, then i would love to go out for my 21st birthday with my mom. Believe me i was SOOO surprised at how good he did.

My daughter has always done pretty well as long as she can't see me. I left her with my mom once and she said she was fine and content the whole time, but she was just much, much happier when I got back.

When I left her with my sister, she'd cry when I came to pick her up cuz she didn't want to come home, lol.

It's only now that she's older (almost 3) that she is very scared of me leaving and I can't leave her anywhere.

I need some opinions or advise. I am curious about weaning. I don't want to do it I want my baby to just self wean. But if that means I am going to be nursing an 8 year old then I don't want to do that.

If I let my LO self wean about what age would that be?

Right now LO is 11 months and is mostly on milk and a small amount of solids. I am going to be working more solids in to the diet soon.

What age did you wean or did your baby self wean?

My cousin self weaned at 14 months...which IMO is too young...natural weaning age is between 2 and 7...depends how much your baby likes food I guess :]

Totally depends on the child. My daughter will be 3 next month. I semi weaned her during my pregnancy and now she nurses 1-2 x's a day, but I'm sure if I hadn't cut down a lot when I was pregnant, she would still be nursing 3-5x's/day easy, plus nighttime. She loves nursing.

My son is 7 months and he ONLY nurses when he is hungry, and when the milk is gone, he is done nursing. Sometimes if he's extremely upset, he'll nurse for a little bit, but usually if he's upset about something and I try to nurse him, he gets mad. I predict he will self wean before 2.

My daughter is 21 months and right now the plan is to let her self wean, because I don't want to cause her any emotional upset, and I want to give her the best for as long as she wants it. I haven't got an exact age where I know I'll be done even if she isn't, because while right now I can't imagine nursing a 4 year old I see on the street, when MY baby is 4 it won't be the same to me, kwim? I could never imagine nursing a 2 year old when DD was one, because they all seemed so much older than her. Now to me she doesn't seem as old as them, even though she is the same developmentally as them.
You both have to be comfortable for it to work of course, and you have to remember that MOST kids will self wean before 8, so don't worry lmao.
I'm not really bothered about night weaning yet either, because we co-sleep and love it and it's no hassle. I do wish my SO could comfort her back to sleep when she wakes up, but I like being needed.

I think it's extremely weird to nurse A, lol. When I'm nursing her it doesn't feel strange or foreign, but when I'm NOT nursing her and I think about it, the thought is really weird to me, hahaha.

Sounds like it just depends on the LO and how they feel about nursing and how important it is to them. My LO loves it. I mean he nursed all day long. Any time I put him in his car seat he reaches for a little sip. Any time he sees me he wants a little sip.

I guess I will just see where we are in another year.

I still thought of her as a baby last year, lol. This year, she is the size of a kindergartner. Wherever we go, that's the age group she plays with cuz they think she's their age, haha.
