Quoting applelove:" I need some opinions or advise. I am curious about weaning. I don't want to do it I want my baby to just ... [snip!] ... of solids. I am going to be working more solids in to the diet soon. What age did you wean or did your baby self wean? "
My daughter is 21 months and right now the plan is to let her self wean, because I don't want to cause her any emotional upset, and I want to give her the best for as long as she wants it. I haven't got an exact age where I know I'll be done even if she isn't, because while right now I can't imagine nursing a 4 year old I see on the street, when MY baby is 4 it won't be the same to me, kwim? I could never imagine nursing a 2 year old when DD was one, because they all seemed so much older than her. Now to me she doesn't seem as old as them, even though she is the same developmentally as them.
You both have to be comfortable for it to work of course, and you have to remember that MOST kids will self wean before 8, so don't worry lmao.
I'm not really bothered about night weaning yet either, because we co-sleep and love it and it's no hassle. I do wish my SO could comfort her back to sleep when she wakes up, but I like being needed.
