Echo Foci

Has anyone had to have special screening because of calcium deposits in the heart of the fetus? My doc found a few in my ultrasound and I'm kinda worried. He's sending me to a specialist next week.

yep. I went and got a fetal echocardiogram to basically monitor the baby's heart.
It was just like a regular u/s just lasted a bit longer, and they focused on the heart alone.
They can be normal, so try to not stress until you know for sure!

yep. I tested high risk for a baby with Downs. (by the quad screen), and we opted to do the amnio because of the location i'll be delivering in. and while waiting for the results from that we got the results from the u/s that showed that our lil girl had several indicators of Downs, (the calcium deposit, and a cyst on her brain) But we were relieved when we got back the amniocentesis results and found out she will not be born with Downs.

did they say you were at risk for any other disabilities?

nope. The blood tests didn't show any more, and the results of the amnio were that she wasn't going to have a "common" abnormality IF she had one.
We don't have any history of anything in either family, so they didn't order specific genetic testing. So we just wait to see....
