Listened to the doctors when they told you to wake your baby up every 3 hours to eat and how long did you do it before you let them wake up on their own?

I'm guessing you are breastfeeding? I'd honestly just let your baby eat when the baby wants to eat... Your supply should be fine if you dont' go for more than 6 hours for sleep and 3-4 hours during the day

No actually I'm not breastfeeding lol. I bottle feed and my son's on neosure. I just know that since he's a preemie they said he won't always wake up on his own or whatever.

My son was fornuma fed so we woke him up the first couple days after we brought him home until my mom and mil informed me that he would never get on a proper sleeping schedule if I continued to do that.  I was always told that you should never wake up a sleeping baby until I had my son and the hospital watched us like a hawk and told us to wake him up.

I did. It was only an issue in the hospital though, when we came home she woke up every couple hours on her own.
I was told it was necessary because the longer the baby goes between feedings the more likely he/she is to develop jaundice.

My daughter lets me know when shes hungry, I didn't like waking her up to feed, because she'd be fussy and upset that I woke her up and wouldn't eat, so I'd let her sleep until she decided it was time to eat.

o0o0o okay, well Haley was born at 32 weeks gestation.. and the nurse in the NICU told me she'd let me know when she was hungry.(0o0o and she did when I brought her home, was up every 4 hours). guess it may depend on the baby's behavior in the NICU, did the baby get fussy prior to feedings?
