If you have a doctor and have an uncomplicated vaginal birth, here in Canada it's usually 48 hours. It can be longer if it's your first, and they have room. But generally 2-3 days for an uncomplicated v birth. For c-section, it's around 5 days.

with my 2nd & 3rd, I had a midwife. I had to wait for 4 hours in the hospital, but then I got discharged. But then she has to be at my home within 24 hours to see me & baby. If you need help with BF, the hospital ie. LACTATION consultants,ie. the place to be.

However long insurance will pay for. Most do 48 hours for vaginal birth and 72 for C-section.

It's usually around 2 days. It depends on the complications & how you feel.

I had a c-section. I gave birth in the afternoon of the 12th and went home in the morning on the 14th.

Depends on your dr, hospital, and what your insurance will pay for. DS and I were there 4 nights. They wanted to keep him an extra day (jaundice) and my ins would pay for me to stay 4 days so I stayed too. They were going to release me after 3 days (and I had an emergency c/s). My SIL had a scheduled c/s in July at the same hospital I'm delivering at and she stayed 3 days.

lol ok I should have been specific I plan on having a vaginal birth if no complications occur. I am being delivered by midwife in a hospital. I am native american so I go to the indian hospital for free and you don't need insurance. I do plann on breastfeeding and so far I have had a perfectly normal pregnancy without any complications whatsoever. That could change but thats it so far.
