My birth center only requires a 4 hour stay, but it's a different situation since they don't do routine iv's, episiotomies, c sections, etc. They will let you stay as long as 8 hours if the situation requires. I hate hospitals, I can't imagine being forced to stay in one when I'm perfectly healthy!

I had a perfectly normal pregnancy..no complications and ended up in a c-section so don't just count on that....and yes, I think juandice is hereditary..

I had both of my kids naturally. With my first daughter I stayed 3 days and with my second I went home the next day...so it really just depends on what your doctor thinks.

Here it's 4 hours after the birth. But that's provided everyone is healthy and happy.
I was home within 24hrs of my first and 48hrs with my second due to her having a few issues.

At my hospital if there are no complications 24 for vaginal birth and 48 for c-section.

Jaundice is NOT heriditary. I actually was talking to my OB on Tueday about it (since DS had it so badly) and she said that babies get jaundice sometimes b/c they're a different blood type than mom. I thought that was interesting! Also, preemie babies get it worse than full-term ones usually (DS was born at 36w6d). My DS had it really badly and we actually had to have the bilibed at home for about 2 weeks for him.

my son was born at 37 weeks and i had a billi light at home for about 2 weeks also.it didn't start till he was already at home.

with Kailey I stayed in the hospital for 3 days and with Addie I left asap (about 24 hours) because I had to share a room and I just wanted to go to my own house in my own bed.
