Should Christian Women "Obey" Their Husbands?

posted 10th Oct
There's some debate among various christian denominations, and even within the same denominations, on whether or not women should "submit to" or "obey" their husbands, as the Bible seems to state.

What do you think?

I think we need another option in the poll!

Like...only if 'we're roll playing.

My mom and her 2nd husband had that type of relationship he was a strict southern baptist and that is the way he believed...which eventually led to there divorce
Do I think thats right? NO..
God created men and woman as EQUALS... we just do different things than one another

Religion aside I have a turkish husband who in his culture belives a woman should obey a man..but Ive let him know this american girl doesnt obey anyone

Ugh...this topic rubs me the wrong way. My parents went to a really strict church while I was growing up and the men there totally blew that verse out of proportion. Like they were God and their wives were there servants. I like to ignore that portion of the Bible lol.

What does that mean then, to be head of the household?

I think if a husband and wife are voluntary members of a denomination that practices that type of marital dynamic, then it's fine. Obviously that doesn't work for most couples and certainly wouldn't fly in my marriage.

This is how our household is run as well.  All major decisions are jointly discussed and agreed upon.

I do alot for my dh, butobey is not one of them!!! I'm a Christian, but I'm also a women and I do not like being told what to do! After 4 years of marriage he is slowly learning that asking me to do something will get him farther than telling me to do something! We are equal partners and I'm not a slave!

My husband is religious, and I am the farthest thing from it. Part of the bible is understanding that you can only show ppl the way, you cannot force...so you cant really make someone obey...

But I so def dont want to get into a religious argument...cause I will leave and have my husband jump on....I dont know anything about it
