15 weeks and diagnosed with pregnancy previa?

Hi... I am 15 weeks pregnant and I just got home from the ER. I went in for what I thought were contractions and pelvic pressure. It turns out from the unltrasound that I have pregnancy previa. It sounds pretty serious... I am put on bedrest for awhile and I have to go into my doctor tomorrow to find out all my restrictions. All the material I have read about it says that it can get better... pregnancy previa is where the placenta is blocking my cervix... but if my placenta does not grow away from my cervix - it can be quite serious for both the baby and me. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice?

It happens to alot fo women, but truthfully i am surprised that you are being told something like this so ealry and suggest you consult your doctor for there opinion. I recently went to the doctor myself and was told I was having a threatened miscarriage, with no bleeding or cramping. My doctor told me that he strongly disagrees with that!

Hi! When I went in for my twenty week ultrasound ( 29 weeks now) they told me that I had marginal placenta previa. So far it has posed no problem for me, I wasn't put on any restrictions. I was told that I might cramp and bleed while my placenta moves... but I haven't yet. They plan on doing another ultrasound at my next appointment just to see if it has moved. I think one of the biggest things with placenta previa is premature delivery and c-sections, but this baby has been in me longer than my first and I have to have a repeat c-section anyways... so it really hasn't phased me yet. Good Luck!

Hi. I'm almost 25 weeks pregnant and I have complete previa. It's not all that bad. I found out when I was 19 weeks and SUPER freaked out because of all I read. My doctor put me on restricted activy which means no excersise, no super long walks, no sex, basically no vigorous activies. I'm even suppose to avoid lifting my 3 year old which sometimes is a chore in itself. At 30 weeks I will have another ultrasound to see if it has shifted, if not I'll be on even more of a bedrest type of scheduel. The only other thing I can think of is that if you stay with the previa you may not be able to deliver vaginally you might need a C-section because the placenta can't come before the baby as far as I understand ( we were planning a repeat section anyways..). I hope this help a little.
