gestational diabetes

Last week, my dr. was unable to help control the gestational diabetes through diet so he placed me in the hospital for a few days to monitor and give me insulin. I am now at home and on insulin. It worked for a few days, but now.. my blood sugar is extremely high again. The Dr. said he would just keep raising the dosage, but in the mean time does any one know how this will affect the baby? Is there a risk of pre-term labor? Dr. is also suggesting I stop alot of my activity. Currently I am taking college courses. Do you all think I should drop my classes and take the rest of this month off? I'm about 33 weeks...

I had gestational diabetis also, whatare your sugar levels?

I was told that if you have GD and are being treated for it or not...They like to induce you a few weeks early just because the baby is bigger from GD...I also heard that if it goes untreated it can cause health risks for your baby after it's born...Which honestly everything can cause health problems for the baby...

a friend of mine had gestational diabetes and found out her birth mother had regular diabetes ( she was adopted) and the result was her son at age 2 was diagnosed with diabetes. so by just you having it now CAN make your child susceptible to getting it- her son was not growing well and sick all the time and now he has an insulin pump he wears.

I had an extremely small baby for being full term, you can have a huge baby or a small baby. It all depends.

Tonight my sugar levels were 163 after dinner... After lunch today it was 149. And after breakfast it was 123 which isn't too bad... My dr. insists on keeping the baby in me til my 38 or 39th week... omg! I don't know if he is a big baby or not.. It feels like it LOL... How would you know if he's big or too small?

by them measuring your belly each time your are at the OB.
