Anemic after delivery

When I went into labor my hemoglobin level was low but not bad but when I was discharged it was at 7.5. So now my hemoglobin level is down to a 7.2 and my doctor gave me the choice of having a blood transfusion. I don't really like the idea of having a blood transfusion. My doctor said I could wait and see if the iron supplement they gave me helps, but if I don't get better soon I should have a transfusion. Has anyone had their hemoglobin go up w/ just iron pills at this level? And how long did it take for your levels to go up and make a difference in how you felt?

I had to have a transfusion after I had my son. It was not that bad and I felt a whole lot better.

I had the same thing but I had to continue on my prenatals and eat foods with iron in them!
