disappointing dr. apt.

aaaahhhh! i feel like im gonna be pregnant FOREVER!   i know im still only 37 weeks but it feels like an eternity! i was expecting to have an internal check done today at my apt. but NO!!!!!! not a damn thing. he just measured my belly and checked the position of her head, which i KNOW is down. im 37 weeks and i still have not had one internal done, is this normal practice??? now i have to wait till next week wed. to find out if my cervix is doing ANYTHING! grrrrrr... >  (sorry for the vent)

It's normal for some, my doc refused to check me until I was overdue.  

I never had an internal check done, I had her at 37 1/2 weeks... I dunno, good luck though  

I still haven't been checked yet either... but a friend of mine told me she had to ask her doctor each time to check her because her doctor wouldn't do it unless she asked... so Wed. when I go back... I'm gonna ask! You should just ask your doctor next time when you go to check you out!

Im not sure about normal? but I have been checked almost everytime since 34 wks. I am now scheduled to be induced   b/c Dr. feels there is to much stress on my body ( prior complictions) and possibly the baby. I have been 4 cm dilated and 80% effaced for over a week and contracting like crazy. I dont know what to say but I would ask your Dr. to check you if it makes you feel more comfortable to know, I couldnt see this being a problem since you will already be there in the room. I'm 38 weeks and my Doctor said she would check at my appt. tomorrow... I was told they usually don't check to early unless they are worried about something. The doc will probably check at your next appt.. Hopefully... If not beg  

I asked my ob to check because his head was low, but she didn't believe that so after she checked his heads position and found it being 'bout as low as it goes she said "okay, you wanted me to check your cervix right?"

i'm still closed though its been weeks.  

i dont think i got the internal exam till the 38th or maybe even 39th week..

that is frusterating tho...especially when you go in expecting something..bummer, sorry mama  

I got my first internal at 36 weeks and I'm pretty sure my doctors will continue until I go into labor. I was supposed to find out ifI needed a c-section last thursday, but I ended up peeing blood and that was all thrown off. I hope to find out this week!!!

I have been checked twice, once at 28 weeks and once at 32 weeks but I started losing my mucus plug at 28 weeks so that's why they checked me so early. But my doctor says she plans on checking me at 36 weeks on, so not real sure if that is because of my previous issue or just her standard practice.
