posted 6th Oct
Well my bp was high again today so she made my dosage higher but its been high since I was like 35 weeks..they have tested me 4 preclampsia and what not and my blood always comes back alright..well today she told me that I had toxemia in my urine and that I havent dilated any so I asked her would I go to my due date and she said she dont see it with my bp being high..so she said they would prolly induce me next week...but I gotta go back this wednesday so they can check my bp but I see it being high till after I have the baby b/c my swelling is awful..straight up edema..anyways wont my bp be high when they induce me..I dont see how that helps..or will it be c-section? anyone know or doesent it stabilize when your in the hospital....

you will probable go on bed rest, then they decide if you and baby can last through labor or if the baby is stressed that you might need a CS

I also was induced for high BP
they put you on magnesium(for your high BP) and pitocin

the only shitty thing about that is magnesium is also used to STOP contractions
it was a long process for me.. I was in labor for 20+ hours.. never made it past 5 cm and then his heart rate dropped and I ended up having a c-section

usually after they induce you and get labor started somehow the bp seems to even out. Then after baby is here you wont have it anymore! I would of been like get this baby out now! High bp can cause seziures and what not.

Hopefully you can do it vaginally and your bp may be high until after you deliver. The delivery is necessary so that no harm is done to you or the baby. If they found protein in your urine that means that your kidneys may be beginning to fail. Delivery is necessary if your not better by next week.

My friend has that and it's pretty dangerous to have. Try to help lower your BP and whenever it gets too much, I'm pretty sure they induce you and make you give birth.

They don't put you on magnesium to help your blood pressure, they put you on magnesium to prevent seizures.
If you are spilling proteins, one of the most important things to do is to eat a high protein diet, it can help the preeclampsia from progressing. Also rest with your feet up as much as possible. The only cure for preeclampsia is delivery of the baby, whether or not you go to your due date will depend on your blood work, they look for signs of decreasing hemoglobin/hematocrit, elevated liver enzymes, low platelets (HELLP), among other things, they will also continue to monitor your blood pressure and the amount of protein in your urine. They may choose to have you do a 24 urine. Keep in mind that an elevated blood pressure can decrease the perfusion of the placenta, so try to lay on your left hand side as much as possible.

Also go straight to L&D if you experience dark bleeding, severe pains, intenses heartburn that is not relieved with antacids, or persistent headaches with changes in vision.

I had preeclampsia and delivered at 38 weeks and have done extensive research if you have any questions!

There is a very fine line between hyper tensive disorders of pregnancy and preeclampsia, usually if you are spilling proteins you are considered to have preeclampsia. So, if that is the case, you will have magnesium on admission and at least for 24 hours after delivery, possible longer depending on your blood pressure. It didn't burn for me, but it does make you feel kind of loopy and can make you feel very warm and flushed. It is a continuous IV infusion. Also because of it being a central nervous system depressant they will do vital signs and deep tendon reflexes every four hours. Magnesium can also, rarely cause respiratory depression in you or your baby.

Usually they will attempt a vaginal delivery with cervadil/cytotec and pitocin before attempting a c-section. However if your doctor feels it is your baby's best interest he/she may elect to do a c-section. But if you are not dilated at all, induction can be a long and difficult process and your baby may not tolerate it well, especially with the reduced placental perfusion. I was in labor for 48 hours pushed for four and my son had late decelerations once, which almost resulted in an emergency c-section.

No, they are two entirely different things, pregnancy induced hypertension. PIH, is just that hypertenstion that occured in the second trimester of pregnancy. If it occurs in your first they consider it chronic hypertension regardless of whether or not you had it before becoming pregnant.

Physiologically the difference is PIH is usually caused by the increased fluid volume and increased workload of the heart, Preeclampsia is NOT caused by fluid volume!! It is caused by systemic vasospasms. This is what is dangerous about preeclampsia, it can cause stokes, or ischemia in your tissues resulting in vision changes, liver damage, kidney damage, etc.

Usually preeclampsia is diagnosed, when either your blood work or urine shows signs of damage, most commonly protein in the urine.

More than likely they will not give you general anesthetic unless it is an emergency c-section, especially if you are on magnesium.

but PIH and preeclampsia both are really dangerous right. . .and do you have to go on some type of medicine or anything during labor with PIH(like the magnesium)or what do they do. .
