newborn rashes??

when my son was born, he was perfect color, but within a couple hours he became red and splochy - completely normal i know. it went away after a couple days, but now its back! this is normal right? for it to come back after it went away? one of the books i read said it can keepcoming back for the first 2 weeks of their life..buti just want others opinions. thier skin is still getting use to the materials and what not??is there anything i should or shouldnt do???

it can come back throughout infancy.  It is baby acne and completely normal.  Are you breastfeeding?  If you put some breast milk on it, it helps!

Do you mean on the face? Or the bum? Face rashes are normal, just keep them clean by using a soft, wet towel at bath time. For bum rashes, it may be a yeast rash if it doesn't go away with zinc oxide (destin) in 24 hours.

Agree, if it gets dry it may be mild excema

its on his arms and and upper chest. and on his back. ill put breastmilk on it next time he wakes up!!

and wheni give him his little spongebath - dont use soap yet????

depends.  How often are you bathing him?  He only needs to be bathed a couple times a week at this point.  ANything more will overdry him.  I swear breast milk is thecure all!!!

Doesn't sound like you're over bathing.  Lydia got heat rash a lot on her arms and chest when she was a newborn because I assumed January+new baby=lots of warm clothes.  LOL.  I overdressed her.  When you are home, make sure it is warm inside and let him sort of air out in a diaper and nothing else.  Not for too long, but for half an hour here and there.  It's good for their skin.  Just make sure it is warm in the house!
