Depends on the child.  My first was climbing out of her crib by 13 months.  We introduced her then.  We will introduce our youngest in the next couple of weeks in preparation for  baby.  She will  be around 16 months.  Some people wait way longer, we would have had our kids stayed in their cribs

Both my guys were around two but we didn't do toddler beds- we went straight for the twin.

Isn't it better to get the convertible cribs these days. (The ones that turn into toddler beds and full size beds as the baby grows?) Just wondering because I'll be a soon to be mommy and thats what I got. Hopefully I don't have to buy another bed room set for a lonnnnnng time.

yeas if you can, but we only got one crib, and it was just a simple cheap one, and since the toddler beds we're getting free, well, that and we don't have room for two full sized beds.

We started my son in a toddler bed at 18 months, because he had ben climbing out of the crib....I was terrified he was going to break his neck or something, so down went the crib & up went the 'big boy bed'.

My daughter is 13 months and decided SHE liked to sleep in the toddler bed, too...SO, she is now in the toddler bed, and my son got a twin sized bed. Now, they are BOTH happy at bedtime (which makes my world a LOT easier)

Since they're free, why not give it a shot? Worst case scenario is that you have to take em down and put em away for a month or two - at some point, it's going to be something they need!

I've been wondering this too. My daughter just turned two and hasn't tried to climb out of her crib yet. I asked her doctor at her two year appointment. He said once she's tries climbing out of it then it's time to switch to the toddler bed.

Megan is having a toddler bed for christmas and she will be 14 months. But that is just because we need the cot for Fraggle. Otherwise we would have kept her inthere for a lot longer. She is the type of child that needs to be caged lol the thought of her getting loose in the middle of the night terrifies me lol

We moved our daughter to a toddler bed when she was 13 months because next bub was on the way. While getting out of bed was a novelty for her, we put a gate accross her bedroom door, so she couldn't get up to mischief during the night!

i was thinking about doing it soon since Olivia likes to climb on the sofa and lay with her blanki and baby like she does in her crib. but we're moving into a relatives house for a few months so i think i might wait until after we get into our house that way shes not up in the middle of the night tearing apart someone else's house lol
