re: Facts on marijuana use during pregnancy

Well, you can believe whatever you want to, but if you live in Arkansas when your baby is born he/she would be automatically tested for drugs and if found positive your baby would be taken away from you and placed in foster care immediately... new state law. I expect other states will adopt this policy in time.

I believe it can be harmless but only maybe to some women then again its not good for your baby. I admit I was a smoker before I got pregnant and it was jus calm. I've heard of women smoking and they don't have problems. I have smoked like 3xs since prgnancy I'm 4 mnths now,but like twice was before I knew I was pregnant. When I found out I was expecting I was bout a month 1/2. And after I've only smokes like once and that was yesturday. Now I did feel like I had pains but I'm not sure it could have been the weed. I do regret smoking because wether or not its good or bad I'm not guna smoke. I want what's best for my baby.

thats ridiculous keep telling yourself that! A couple I know smoked smoked hedr entire pregnancy and even smoked around the baby after it was born disgusting I kmow. I am not friends with them I just am friends with a mutual friend of theirs and their son has learning diabilities bc of their scumbag parents. Smoking weed does effect the babys brains development and if you don't believe me than take a college class or two. I have three degrees that say otherwise.

I'm young and whenever I first found out I was pregnant I was in a bad stage of partying. (the partying did not get me pregnant, I have had a steady boyfriend for two years) and when I found out I immediately stopped drinking but read about smoking marijuana during pregnancy. I smoked maybe 5 times until I was a little over 4 months pregnant. I have stopped now because I felt selfish and horrible anytime I did it. No one will be able to understand the guilt I feel for it, I have however changed as a person. My doctor says my pregnancy is going PERFECTLY (which seems too good to be true) but I will always have the fear that I have done something to harm my child. I would never be able to forgive myself. The study says the everything will be fine but I personally belive its not worth the worry and guilt that comes along with it.

Look at how far the world has come with whathas been safe and hasn't. Just know nothing changes with out those individuals with the courage and strength to stand up to the many. I will always say fight for what you believe in that is the American way! Not that only Americans should fought for what they believe in. I do think if pot was legalized and they taxed the hell out of it, our country would have a turn around for the better. I view cigarettes far more harmful, they don't hide those facts! Yet the government has no problem making some money on them. Booze is a while other story, that crap is horrible! Just my opinion, and keep fighting for what ever you believe in.

WOW! The replies on this subject are horribly rude. I think it's absolutely your business what you do. The FACT is that there is NO research to say that it is harmful to a baby. Let me ask you girls this... do you take any head ache medicines? Do you drink ANY caffeine? Just to let you know that those things hurt your baby and there is medical proof of that. So don't be so quick to judge. There is more proof that Tylenol has caused miscarriages, and still borns, and poor liver development of your baby. So I guess you could say that you are selfish for taking it if you have a headache... oh yeah and if you are drinking ANY caffeine during your pregnancy I guess you could say that you are selfish for possibly causing your newborn to have a low birth weight..hmmmm.

In moderation it's fine. It's when its often. No one can do everything perfectly during pregnancy. Every woman is different and every body is different. I drink tons of water and every once in a while I have a soda for a tea and it's not that big of a deal. The frustrating thing on a lot of these post are some respond saying how they are so educated and have degrees and talk down to the person who posted this subject. I think that is so wrong especially when they themselves do not know all the facts. I'm pretty sure their degrees arent in pregnancy health. Just because someone has a degree doesn't mean they know everything.   Marijuana is such a controversial subject and I do believe there isn't anything wrong with it if used in moderation and responsibly but those who do not understand the medical facts of it are very quick to judge and be rude. Also to make clear on my last post if you do use Tylenol and caffeine during your pregnancy it DOES NOT make you a bad mother or anything close to that.. BUT it does mean that there shouldn't be judgment being tossed around for someone who uses marijuana which is relatively A LOT safer than those things.

Also if your degree is in Health and you have come to the conclusion through studies that it is harmful to a baby's development please feel free to share those sources... I myself am also educated in that field and I'm sure I would find it very interesting considering all the studies that have come back with zero of harmful effects. I see a whole lot more of over the counter medicines causes a lot of birth defects and also anti depressants which over HALF of pregnant women are being prescribed.

I sure know plenty of moms who have used marijuana during pregnancy and their kids are fine, and more than fine. It's medicine, ancient medicine that has long been used in pregnancy and labor. The choice is individual. I respect people on both sides of the argument, but I personally don't believe it is harmful in moderation. More and more evidence is supporting that belief.

People who disagree and shoot back with anger and insults...maybe a toke is order? Pregnant women who use this sacred medicine are often coming from a place of love and trust, NOT total disregard for their babies.

Love & Light!

What's funny is she is the one whose right haha. Open your mind and do some research first. Its a damn plant not a drug. The chemical compound THC (what gets you "high") is naturally in your body already. You have receptors in your brain designed to interact with THC. Theres THC is breast milk that relaxes the baby an helps him/her have the urge to need to feed. There is absolutely no proof that it impairs youre brain functioning. As a matter of FACT, it stimulates your brain cells to grow more and protects them. The baby wont have withdraws because marijuana contains NOTHING ADDICTIVE. Duh. Go out and learn on your own. Youll be so misguided and ignorant if you keep believing everything you hear. Especially from the government, same f***ers that made it illegal because of how it affected black people because they werent supposed to laugh. Then legalized it so they could use it for the war for hemp rope. Then illegalized it after again. But today its legal medicinally in places and recreational use in 2 states. Must be so bad right? Haha.

Not to say I would ever smoke it while pregnant, I used to allll the time, but as soon as I found up I gave up all the stuff I used to do just because I don't want any chances of anything going wrong with my son, because then I would feel like a terrible mom for it even if it wasn't because of something I did. Oh and I mean hell my mom smoked it with ALL five of her pregnancies and 4 of them came out perfectly fine, healthy, smart, and NO health problems. Her oldest well she came out with brain problems but it was not due to marijuana, just something didn't develop all the way I think because she came early possibly. I guess everyone has a choice, but doesn't mean that people should be bashed for the ones they make.
