Fingers

So, I was looking at my baby's ultrasound pics a little while ago and it really looks like he has six fingers on his hand (I could only see one hand in the pic).
Maybe I'm just tired and seeing things, but that's what it looks like.
Is having six fingers a random mutation or is it hereditary?
My mom had 12 fingers, and so did her father. Also, so did two of my second cousins. So it kinda seems hereditary, I was just wondering about that.

My daughter has 12 fingers as well.

Could you see it on the ultrasound pictures?

My mom had hers removed when she was a baby, but one of my cousins didn't and she says she can move it. (I haven't seen her do it though.)

Is your daughter going to have her fingers surgically removed? Just wondering.

We didn't notice them, no.

We have a 4D video, and I didnt even notice them until AFTER she was born, and thennnn I noticed that you could see them on the video.

When they are there, generally they just tie them off like a skin tag and they fall off in about a week or two.

But she has bones in these, so they are going to get them off when they do her other surgery.

But, they have no movement, just kind of hang out.
They do have a finger nails that I have to keep trimmed.

I wish I could, but my scanner won't work with this computer and the camera I've been using to take pictures of pictures (sad isn't it?) is lost somewhere in my room.

I'm getting another ultrasound done on Tuesday and I'm going to pay extra close attention this time and ask the ultrasound tech to count the fingers if she can.

it's hereditary...take the pic with you to your next Dr appt and ask his opinion

i heard from a cousin that when that happens its that d bavy was supposed to be twins, IDK.. her daughter had whats seems to be a 6 inger next to her pinkie.

Not true. It is just a gene that is passed down.

Probably someone on some ones side had them, but has told no one.
It is actually quite common.
