Baby Thermometers

I'm working on my baby registry and wondering what type of thermometer all of you are using or planning on using. There are so many different kinds!

I haven't had to use one yet, but i got a VICKS thermometer and it changes color for the baby, red is bad, yellow is mild and green is ok. It's pretty nice!

I am a nurse and asked my pedis and they all recommend the digital ones because the most reliable temp for baby is rectal and that is what the docs will ask you to take- the new digital ones have a flexible end for rectal temps so it does not hurt. ear thermometers are not very accurate even for adults.

someone got me a celcious (sp) one for a baby shower gift and HOW DUMB because i have to go online to translate to fahrenheit everytime. its so annoying dont get a celcious thermometer

The one on my registry is digital, but it's like a pacifier. My aunt recommended it to me because she used it with all three of her kids and she said it's one they'll actually keep in their mouth the whole time it takesto read their temperature.

these are not very accurate and if the OP's baby is like mine she would not even take a paci at all- hated them.

Most doctors will only take a retcal temp over the phone untill the child is older.

This is the one I have because it can be used as a retcal, mouth and under arm. It has one probe for each thing and the screen will trun red when the temp is to high. I also like that you dont have to figure out what the temp really is by adding a number or taking away a number.
