Baby Mod Mini crib

posted 4th Oct
Does anyone have a mini crib? I am looking at this one from Wal-mart.com but can't seem to find any bedding for it.

Dont get a mini crib unless you are planning to get a new one at about 7 months!

I saw that. But I am looking for something neutral. I managed to find some but they want $100 for it. I guess they are out there, just hard to find.

Well my son is 11 months and will be 18 months when the baby is born. I would like to keep him in his crib until he's closer to two. He will have to share his room with the new baby for a few months which is why I am opting for a mini. Have you had one?

Yeah, we used it from about 4 months to about 7 months. It started getting to small around 6 months though. I was always afraid he would fall out if it! If you just need it for the first few months (from when your son is 18 months to when he turns two) then I would go ahead and buy it! Then you can just put the new baby in your sons old crib when he/she grows out of the mini.

Did you have a hard time finding bedding for it? Fall out of it? Like climb over the railing?

My MIL found some bedding at Target for it. And yeah, by the time he was 7 months the railing hit by his stomach when he would stand up in it.

Sarah, just some thoughts. For Nolan. He may be jealous of the baby if the baby takes his bed. It might make it harder for him to make the transition. We did make the transition with Sam after his 2nd bday but we put the crib away for about 3 months until he forgot about it. Does Nolan have a convertible? I wonder if it wouldn't be better to buy a full size crib. We got ours from Target for around $200. I think you can find affordable ones that still look decent and that are safe. Then you could just take the side off for Nolan. Just a thought. But if you aren't worried about the transition then get the mini.

I really couldn't imagine getting two full size cribs in there. I didn't really planning on using it as the day bed. I wanted to get him new furniture.

Stacie might be right about your son getting jealous of the baby "taking his bed" but when he is 24 months the baby will only be 6 months so maybe he/she could stay in the mini cric for a month or so more while he adjusts to his new bed and then you could switch the new baby to the big crib.

That's a good idea. Take down the crib and put it away while Nolan adjusts.
