Water Breaking?

posted 2nd Oct
What are signs that your water has broken. sorry if this is TMI but I got home earlier and my undies were wet but not with with urine. It had a slight smell like discharge but not over powering. And I keep feeling like wetness coming out. My uterus is hurting off and on not real close together or anything but it is painful when it hits and my stomach is not tightening up.. Does anyone know what might be going on or does it sound like just discharge and normal pain.

I would call you ob

Mine did the same thing, but it was a very slow leak...turns out it had been broken for over 5 days (VERY dangerous because of infection) I didnt think it was because it was such a slow leak, and didnt leak all the time. The was a hole and when the baby switched positions she would actually plug the hole back up

just have them test the fluid, they can with little strips of paper and the color will determine if it amniotic fluid or not

good luck!!!

well you can either have a huge gush....or you can have a slow leak.
My advice to you is to go pee. stand up, walk around. go try to pee again. dry your private area with a towel. Put on new panties... if your new panties get soaked then there is a chance your water could be leaking. Also the smell is sweet not acidic like urine or discharge.
Also there is a chance that your vaginal fluid could just be very watery today. Is it very warm where you live? Cause that can cause excess vaginal fluid to lighten up and become water like, even running down your leg so you think you have peed yourself.

I live in GA so that could be a possibility.

If my water breaks would I have contractions or can the water be broken without contractions?

My water has broke with all three of my last pregnancies, first 2 were gushes and the 3rd was a so leak. I dont go into labor at all, no contractions. So I always need to be induced. But I am rare...I have heard of women getting concrations right away to others that did not get them for a couple of hours after.

I wish I could figure out I know this prolly sounds crazy but I am really having a hard time figuring out if my water has broken or not. When I smell what is comming out it doesn't smell as strong as my discharge usually does (really sorry if that is TMI) it smells alot weaker but like you said it could be due to me living in a warmer area.

well my OB told me that if I was worried about anything to go in. Better safe than sorry. I bet yours would think the same. It would be better to go in and nothing happen than to not go in and be in labor.

yep, its really easy. They just put a few drops of the fluid on paper and it will tell if it is amniotic fluid. And hey if its not, well then just use it as an excuse to get hubby tostop forsome icecream on the way home! LOL

Haha unfortunately hubby is over seas but Mil would definetly stop for me. ROFL. I did the whole drying off thing and putting on new undies I am fixing to check them cause they feel wet and if they are I am going to place a call to OB. Cause yeah I am definetly wondering. If they have broken all I can say is I almost made it to the baby shower which is Sunday. If not well then that would be wonderful too cause I am not full term until Sunday. So here is crossing the fingers that he wants to stay in a little longer.

Well I called ob and they pretty much said wait till morning so that way any discharge I did have would be diluted so that they test would be more accurate. Also ob didn't want me sitting up at the hospital all night with no contractions when I can be at home and more comfortable. So I am going to go in in the morning to do the test and if my water has broken they will get me to the hospital at that time to induce. Unless I start having contractions then they want me to go immediately because they have yet to check if i am dialated at all so I guess I am going to try and sleep to night. Prolly won't be able to lol. and see what the results are tomorrow.
