In home Daycare

posted 2nd Oct
So I work full-time at a daycare, and I love what I do... only problem is that I'm going back to work on Monday from my maternity leave, and I have 2 kids... well I figured out last night that I would be making MAYBE $20 a month because I have to pay tuition for my kids. So I'm thinking about maybe watching some kids at my house instead. Does anyone take there kids to in home daycares?... and how much do they charge per age? I was thinking maybe $100 a week for infants, $80 for toddlers, and $70 a week for Preschool. I think that's pretty ligit since average costs here are $180 for infants, $150 for toddlers, and $130 for preschool. What do you ladies think? and do you have any suggestions??

It could be a great opportunity to stay with your kids while still doing what you love. You should be able to find stuff online about Day Home laws in your state. Look it up and go for it if it's possible!

i was looking into at home daycare and I found out that if you do it through the state of IL that you would make 10 an hour per child. If you are certified I believe you make double that or more. The state also pays a check for food. I am not sure how the pricing would go if you just had a system where the parents pay out of pocket. The child care initiative is very popular here. I know how you feel about going back to work, my first week back was horrible. Good luck.

that is about what I charged. If they supplied the food and milk then i charged less. I also watched kids over night on the weekends for "mommy and dady time" and would charge 50 from 5 in the evening to 10 in the mornings.

i did in home day care, i only watched infants tho, but i charged 90 a week for them and a dollar for every minute the parents were late lol, it was fun and since i only wanted 2, i didnt have to get inspected or register with the state, i watched my friends kids...

good luck, and your prices sound fair....since they get 1 on 1 care and its in home....infant care in my area is 110 a week at a ghetto place so 90 bucks i was happy!!

if your not gonna register with the state and pay like a business tax then have the parents pay you in cash so you bank doesnt notice things

My baby goes to a in home daycare .... I pay 60 /wk but she only watches him 1/2 day on Mondays , Wed , Thurs, Friday , Bryson is 3wks .

My oldest son went to a in home daycare ... I paid 110/wk and that was a full day everyday .

This is also a family friend that watches my boys .So I think your prices would be good and fair .

Don't forget to include meals and snacks as part of your fee... it's expensive to feed kids... I think your prices are very reasonable, but you could probably go a tad higher because people will pay more for 1 on 1 childcare for the babies... versus the mass occupancy of daycares! I have watched kids in my home, I've been a live in nanny, and have tried working in a daycare.. and this is what I know.. my child will NEVER go to daycare. not after the terrible things I have seen..

If it's 8 hours a day, I wouldn't charge less than 100 dollars. It is $25 a day anywhere around here in homes.Don't sell yourself short, it is a little different when you are the only one watching other's children with no other adult interaction.Good luck, I was also considering this.

Yeah, I looked up some stuff last night, and you can have up to 4 kids without having to be licensed. I looked at the licensing rules and I don't think I would be able to get licensed at the place I'm living at now, since I'm renting. I would have to have a fenced yard, which I don't have.

My best friend has had her daughter at an in home daycare since she was eight months old and she loves it. Caroline is 5 now and in Kindergaten but the lady still picks her up after school and charges 75 per week. Before she started school she was charging 135 per week, so I think your prices sound reasonable.

same here girl, my stepdaughter had been in day care from the time she was 4wks old to now..shes had countless ear aches, runny noses, she had the flu at 3 months, whooping cough at 6 months.....

sad thing is that her mom wouldnt get over everything and let me watch her instead in our home for the price she paid for day care..she rather have a sick baby
