It makes me so mad!

posted 1st Oct
Im watching this show on TLC about Pagent girls that are children. I always see shows about this and stuff and I cant even wrap my mind around why people do this.
Children should be child and NOT fucking fake adult barbies!
Its not like these parents 3 year olds came up to them and were like "Mommy, I want to compete as a beauty queen". No, these parent are living out some kind of dream through their kids.
They are teaching them that pretty dresses a fake smile and too much make up is the best thing that they can have.
What kind of mind set does that put a child in?
More so, these kids are at the age were if they dont win a competetion that they're parents wanted them to win so badly, they will think they let them down.
Once again, children should be children. They should be able to go play with their friends on the weekends and mess with there mothers make up. Not drive two hours to have there mother apply make up to them.

Just my opinion.

I didnt really know where I should post this, sorry.

what's worse is when the parents put themselves into debt, take out second mortgages on their homes, and even DIVORCE each other because of all the stress THEIR addiction is causing.

yea, that irritates me. I don't see anything wrong w/ regular childrens contests or children trying out for commercials, but when they do pageants they can't be children..

And those pics they retouch, come on.. Children don't need their photos retouched, they are beautiful w/out photoshopped makeup....

I agree about 90% of the way.

There are some contests and modeling agencies that actually look out for the kids and will do everything they can to make the child happy first.

Not every lady who put their kid into that is how you describe. Some kids DO ask if they can model. And a good parent would always allow the child to back out when they asked for that too.

I plan on trying modeling out with Chelsie. Not because I wanted to do so when I was young and I want to live it through my daughter, because I want her to try new things, and bond with other girls. Plus, she may even like it enough to go on with it further, and if not then we'll try something else out if she wants to.

Plus, most places are anti makeup now too.

well if they are being forced to do it just because the parent didnt get to live that dream then i think its wrong. But i feel that if its the little girl that wants to do it and the parents are just being supportive then its ok, yea they might be small but at least it shows parents being supportive.

i just watched that too! the makeup they put on them disgusts me! and the spray tanning?? the little girl was like SCREAMING! my little cousin who was a boy did a few pageants, (he won 1st place btw haha) but his mom did not make it his life, it was something to do on the side for fun, and she didnt mold his life off of it like the ppeople on that show

I told my fiance that Im going to put my daughter in a pageant with no makeup or fake hair or fake teeth and see what happens... it just makes kids think that this is what they must look like when they grow up, and I think that if my child didnt win then thats what the society thinks a little girl should grow up to look like... but I wouldnt do that to my daughter anyways, just because I dont want to use her to prove a point... maybe we should make a no fakeness beauty pageant... couldnt think of a name!  And see how well that goes compared to the ones that we usually see.......

I agree with pretty much what everyone else is saying, that it's okay if the child wants to do it.

But seriously, what is up with all the makeup they wear!? That's one thing that rubs me the wrong way. I

JonBenet Ramsey definitely didn't look her age in any of those photos released of her. And it was sad that there weren't any pictures of her as a normal, everyday kid.

I have seen that show. It makes me sick.

Judging LITTLE girls on beauty doesn't make any sense! They are basically at the only age in their lives when beauty doesn't really matter. And their parents are ruining it for them.

It is so gross how much fake tanner, hair extensions, makeup, fake eyelashes, and even fake TEETH they put on them! Most of those 5 year old girls could pass as an 19 year old midget!
