ear piercing and breastfeeding

posted 1st Oct
I can hardly wait to get my lil girls ears pierced. Her doctor said that they will do it when shes 2 mos old and well, shes 2 mos! However, im gonna wait until shes at least three. Anyway, Im concerned how this will affect her breastfeeding bc my arms whil holdng her may press against her ears. Has anyone encountered this problem?

Why do you want to pierce her ears so early?

No it never seemed to bother my two girls at all and they had it done at 2mths, they actually did very well never pulled on them or anything and still to do this day they never bother them and they love their earrings and getting to pick out new ones. I did give them Tylenol before they went!

I haven't had any experience with this, but I do agree, I would think it would be uncomfortable for her. Maybe wait until you are not breastfeeding anymore?

My neice bawled her eyes out when she got her ears pierced at three months.

It broke my heart.

I got my daughters ears pierced a week and a half ago, at three months. She didn't cry for the first one, but for the second, she kept trying to look at the lady, so I had to hold her head still and arms down and she didn't like that, so she cryed. But right after it was done, she was done crying. As for it hurting after, well you have to clean the area twice a day for six weeks, and touching it, no problems. I don't breast feed, but she does like to cuddle like that, and it never hurt her.
Some people make such a big deal about the earings situation, it's not a big deal.

Riley got hers done somewhere between 8 and 10 weeks...she cried for about 20 minutes and then was over it. I felt a little bad, but it's better to get it done now because she does not mess with them. Only thing that sucked was she was allergic to the earrings so now she can only wear gold. Good thing my best friends family owns jewelry stores!!!
