Do anyone on her have big babies? my was 8lbs 15oz...if so H

ok I had my baby Aug 16th. He was 8lbs 15oz. This isn't my first child. My daughter was only 5lbs 14oz. So the formula worked for her. Well anyway i started to breast feed him for two weeks but couldnt keep up with him. So i started to bottle feed him and that worked really well. Well now that hes almost 2 months its like im not feeding him enough. I mean hes eats 4 to 5 oz every 4 hours. But in two hours he wants more but only will eat 1 to 2 oz, and after he eats the 1 to 2 oz he will go 4 hours untill he wants the 4 to 5 oz. Understand? My friend who is 41 and her girls are 12 and 15. She told me to put baby cereal in his bottle. Not to much to where its thick, but enough to where its still really soupy. But I dont want it to hurt him. I know hes not really starving, bc he between 12 to 13 pounds.. hes my little chunkers...lol. I know i could ask my doctor but i wanted to know what moms with bigger babies do. So if any of you can help me i would appreciate it so much.

My kids were lighter than yours but still over the eight pound mark and cereal is a no-no unless it's for reflux. Just feed him what he wants, when he wants, same as if he was on the boob.

my daughter was 9lbs when I had her. She was the same way. You don't want to start cereal until you really have to. Because that can cause a lot of problems. So just make bigger bottles. Try giving him 6oz instead of 4. He should be up to 6oz. bottles now. My daughter is now 14.5 close to 15 pounds. And shes eating 6oz. bottles every 4 hours. And shes content with it. So just try making bigger bottles at each feeding.

I have 2 kids. My daughter was 6 lbs 14 oz, and my second one was 11 lbs even. My first daughter was put on cereal (By a doctor) at the age of 3 weeks because she was over eating. My second daughter will be 3 weeks tomorrow and has been eating 4 oz everything 3-4 hours since she was a week old.
I would just continue to feed him as he wishes. There is nothing wrong with a little snack in between feedings. Don't start the cereal until you consult your pedi.

It would be okay to feed him more at the 4 hour mark. Like try a 6oz bottle at the next feeding time. See if that helps you regulate things.
Other that that, please don't put cereal in the bottle unless your baby has reflux or your doctor tells you to. It's a choking hazard and it confuses babies about spoons and it can lead to obesity as babies with cereal in their bottles tend to over eat.

that's not a good idea unless he has reflux.
babies cluster feed. that's ok.
they aren't going to over eat.
my son was 8lbs 15.5oz, and there were nights i was feeding him every hour for half an hour at least every feeding.

My baby was a lot smaller but she did that sometimes too. Just do what you're doing he'll probably go back to a normal schedule soon. Or like someone else suggested give him 6oz at a time.

Well i've tried that and he either pukes it up or he falls asleep and will not open his mouth. or if opens he'll suck but spit it out.

My son was 9 lbs, 6 oz when born. He is a bf baby, but I bottlefed him a lot. He ate a LOT, more than what your son seems to be eating. Stay away from the cereal until at least 4 months, though the new recommendation is 6 months. Just give him as much formula as he wants as often as he wants for now.

My son was 8 lbs 4 oz at birth. I breastfed until he was 5 months and 1 week old but I did supplement with one bottle of formula at night (it got him to sleep longer so I could get my sleep). I always gave him 6 oz in his bottle and that seemed to be enough. It still is - even though now, in addition to formula, he gets solids three times a day (cereal, fruits, veggies).
I heard it's not a good idea putting rice cereal in their bottles. Check with your doctor on that one. But why not just give him more at each feeding? I thought that at this age, you can't overfeed a baby, so if he's still hungry, just give him more.

During growth spurts, babies eat more often, it's normal. I wouldn't start cereal early, their tummy can't handle it. I made that mistake with my 9 month old (started @ 3.5 mo per pedi) and he stopped gaining properly, and has had tummy issues since. He was 8 lbs 4 oz @ birth and now is barely 16 lbs.

Then just let him cluster feed for a while. There's nothing wrong with that.

My daughter was as big as your first, 5 lbs 14 oz. She has a spit up problem where she can't hold things down very well. I put rice ceral in her bottle since she was 2 months old and VIOLA! No more spit up problems!!!
Its safe to put rice cereal in there bottles, as long as its not alot. We only put a little bit in, and it helps her gain a little more weight and keeps her fuller, shes done miraculously well on it!!

my first son was 8lbs 9 oz and my second was 9lbs 10 oz. i breastfeed my older one until he was 3 monthsd and then switched to a bottle and he did the same thing. I found that some of the time he wasnt realy hungry sometimes he was just tried or hungry. i wouldnt give him cereal in his bottle unless he has reflux and even then its not realy a good idea. Ask your pedi they might have something that you can do. he might just be going through a growth spurt though.
