I had HELLP Syndrome with my first... She was a 29 weeker. Even though I was classified as high risk for that, I still nursed for 5 months of my second pregnancy... My second was born with her own issues, but I don't think it had anything to do with the fact that I continued nursing.. I carried her to 39 weeks, but was considered high risk for preterm labor because of these other complications.

Well Izzie back to nursing again. I think she got jealous that Lena was getting more mummy-time than she was (I tried to give her cuddles every time Lena was nursing but it obviously wasn't enough). I really don't know what to do when the new baby comes.
The girls do find it funny when the little bean kicks them. They can't wait to meet her.

Gosh, if I tried going cold turkey my two would flip out! They're very affectionate and touchy and I think they need that close contact every day. I'm sure they'll figure out something else once they wean but they're definitely not ready to wean yet.

Hi ladies...any ideas on how to get your kid to nurse less at night and more in the day? My son is just about a year old, and he doesn't really like to eat--he likes his milk! The problem is that he drinks most of it at night time...which means I wake up every 2 hours. He is always fed on demand, and he demands it when he's supposed to be sleeping!

That is Olivia she is a night time comfort nurser. But pretty soon she is not going to want to cuddle with mommy anymore so I am treasuring every moment.
Sleep is for the weak.  I have not had a good nights sleep since before I got pregnant and she is 21 months.

Quoting Holly {BGB}:“ There is a breastfeeding thread in PWI so I was wondering if there is a need for one in here too. As ... [snip!] ... I am finding I am having more questions than I did as my daughter was a newborn. So, I am curious if I am not the only one!”

My daughter is 14 months old and still nurses at night. It was the hardest thing in the world for me to wean her. She never had formula or a bottle and when I was trying to get her to cut back I think it was harder on me than her. I feel the freedom I need during the day because now she doesn't even think about nursing in the daytime. Just at night she still wakes up once and feels like she needs to nurse to go back to sleep. It was a tough decision on when I wanted to stop. Some people advocated me continuing until Layla was ready to quit on her own, but most of the people I know pushed me to COMPLETELY stop when she turned 1. I think it is a personal decision between a mother and her child. When you feel like it's time to quit, you will know.

ive never posted on this thread before, so hi, im shawna. i still nurse my 17month old, devyn. he definitely still does it for comfort. lately ive been offering him a sippy cup or a snack when he reaches down my shirt, instead of whipping out the boob, lol. its actually been working pretty well. he doesnt put up much of a fight. he just loooves loooves boobs. he will sing to my boobs sometimes, and like hug em and motorboat em. especially embarassing when he motorboats me in public! but anyways, i mostly only nurse him at night and for naps now. im hoping ill have h im weaned by 2 years! cross my fingers!

Fingers crossed for ya.
Olivia is 21 months old and is still in our bed night comfort nurser.
I am hoping to have her wean herself by 2 because we have another due in March.
That is funny about the singing to your boobs

thanks, just taking it slow, hoping he'll wean himself slowly, with a little help.

yeah he loves my boobs, like they are separate from me or something, weird.

yikes, what happens if she isnt weaned when the new one comes?

I am not thinking that far ahead.

My husband and inlaws did not want me to nurse at all, so us going on almost 2 years is awesome.
But the next baby I am going to formula feed. I went through hell and back with my husband and inlaws about nursing Olivia and I do not have the strength to fight again.
Olivia weaned herself off the daytime feedings and would probably be off the night nursing if my husband would allow her to sleep in her crib.
My husband and I disagree over everything when it comes to Olivia.
