Ok so i just got back from the doctor went for my 37 and a half week apt... Doctor said every thing is looking good so far...My GBS swab came back neg so thats good...Baby is doing good...I lost weight last time i went( lost 3 pounds) well since then i gainned 1 pound...So that kinda worries me that i am not gainning that much weight....Well he didnt check me to see if i was dialated ( still has not done that)... but he told me to come back next friday ( i will be 5 days away from my due date) and he said if no baby by then, then he will book me to be indused...MAN i am scared shit less thought my baby is going to be here in two weeks...Am i really ready? Do i have every thing i mean? I am kinda starting to freak out didnt seem so close to me....will i be a good mom? But most of all will my baby be healthy? and how much does labor really hurt? i am scared right now and for some reason crying over my baby being here in 2 weeks....man time flys by...

Just curious why would you get induced??

Second... I only gained 11 lbs my whole pregnancy. I lost a bunch at the beginning and gained it back but actual pregnancy weight was only 11 lbs and my son was 8 lbs oz. Don't stress. Don't worry about not being checked. You have plenty of time to dilate. Let nature take its course.

I am with you hon! I am 36 weeks. I even have a 12 year old and know what all of this entails, but it doesn't make it any less scary. Just try and relax and take every thing day by day for now AND once baby comes. Change is always difficult, time makes everything normal again.

Just tell him that. I mean set up a date for like 41 weeks or something but I wouldn't do it before you actual due date unless you had like a medical need.

you can just tell him you don't want to be induced,he can't do it if you don't want to. Labor is alot faster and harder when you are induced....

Also sometimes inducing when your body is not alreday "ripe" and ready will make for a much looooooooonger labor and possibly put our baby in distress, then if baby is in distress for too long you might need a c-section. It's like a domino effect. I would talk to your doc about maybe doing things to encourage labor (stripping of membranes?) but not really INDUCING (with pitocin) until your due date or after. My doc talked about inducing me a week early, but instead we decided that we'd strip the membranes a week early and see what my body does. I will also get accupuncture a few days befoe my due date to try and encourage my body to ripen more. Check out this documentary called, "The business of being born" with Ricki Lake. It talks alot about the way labor should be....or atleast a different perspective on our traditional american way to have babies these days....because of this, the US has a much higher infant mortality rate than many other civilized countries...it's worth a look.

I haven't been checked either and I'm due 2 days before you- but one of the L&D nurses told me that my dr doesn't like to check unless it'a absolutely necessary (or one of his patient's asks him to) and that's fine with me because I'd rather just have it happen when it happens as well. Knowing how far I'm dilated/effaced may cause me to get more anxious - but I feel your pain, I'll wake up in the middle of the night and won't be able to fall back asleep because I'm nesting really bad and thinking of allll the things I have to get done before the baby arrives. I'm going to be a single mom - so all the stress is on me...no BD to help me with this.
