Circumcised

posted 29th Sep
I got my two week old circumcised today...they wouldn't do it in the hospital when he was born bc he was only 5 lbs @ birth...
Needless to say, he's not too happy today...poor baby. Does anyone have any ideas on how to sooth him?

Talk to him...it can be about anything just keep talking in a calm voice and he'll quiet down after awhile. Babies love their mother's voice. That's what I had to do for my baby a couple of weeks ago when I got his done

Feed him and did they tell you to give him any Tempra or anything? Mine was a bit fussy the first day but fine by the next.

I've been feeding him, but he hasn't really wanted to eat much. They said we could give him baby Tylenol...but it's making him real sleepy...boo. I guess that'll be good tonight though. lol

Is there vaseline and a bandage on it? If it's properly cared for, it shouldn't bother him too much. Just make sure it doesn't dry out and stick to his diaper or anything.

Yeah, I put Vaseline on his diaper to keep it from drying out...but he's still a little fussy, but that could be bc it was done today.

Why would you post that here? Her son is ALREADY circumcised. She made her decision and most likely it was not a decision made lightly. That's just rude of you to bring that stuff up when she's asking for help about getting her little guy to stop fussing. How would you feel if you made a decision to stop breastfeeding and we posted stuff about how bad and evil it is of you to stop? Think before you post.

Just trying to make people more aware. This was the easiest decision me and my boyfriend ever had to make. I feel bad for her son, deeply. For his sake maybe infant tylenol? Too bad there is no such thing as a time machine, because that is the best answer.

Listen, if you want to debate the issue of circumcision, take it to D&D. This is NOT the place. You are being rude to the OP. As someone who made the decision for my son to get him circumcised, I can assure you that it's a tough decision to make and seeing your baby cry is not easy. However, I chose to do it because I felt my reasons were good (just like he gets his shots, even though that makes him cry too) and there's no need to be told after the fact that what I did was wrong. Same goes for the OP, I'm sure. But again, if you have a soapbox you want to stand on, that's fine, just don't post it here.

Wow, queen of the after thought, eh? Not too smart either. See her son is already circumcised. Information regarding this parental decision is all over the internet, if someone is interested, they will find it. They certainly don't need you coming and spreading your biased opinion...especially after it's done. It just makes you look ignorant and incensitive.

Likewise, it's a very easy decision for many parents who do circumcise. Don't push your parenting opinion off on others like that. It's very unbecoming of you.

Posting that site was just ignorant.Who are you to to tell a new mother that she was wrong for having it done.in this day most parents do choose to circumcise. It's cleaner and healthier for the baby, you don't have to worry about not getting it cleaned right and causing an infection, besides,if it weren't safe, then it wouldn't be an option for new borns, and no doctor in his right mind would recommend it..I know grown men who didn't get circumcised and they wished they were.landons mommy asked what she could do to sooth her baby, not if she had done the right thing, and i for one don't think she did anything wrong.I know my son will be circumcised, and I won't feel bad about it.

For landons mommy, try both the tylenol and talking to him.and hold him close, babies are soothed by mommy's touch and voice.Talking to him and holding him may be even better for him than the tylenol.

Thank you to all of the ones that apparently actually read my thread. I gave him baby tylenol & that made him sleepy, but for whatever reason when I decided to go to bed, it wore off & he woke up & no longer wants to sleep...but that's ok. Cuddling him helped A LOT though, & so did singing. Thanks again!!

& To be honest with you Melissa...getting boys circ'ed is a good idea. Yes it hurts them, but it'd really hurt if it got infected...but HEY!! I guess that's just me...?
