Liquid in Kidney!!

I had my 18wk u/s to check for ds, I had a 1-230 chance from 1st tri screening in blood. Today they measured the baby and looked at all his organs. Everything looked great, his heart, his brain, amoniac fluid, bones, lips, ears, skin behind his neck....everything....except one of his kidneys, tech and doctor said ithad extra fluid and that it should be at4 and it was at 4.9. He said that it could dissapear or it could stay and could bea sign of DS. I have 2 factors agains me, the blood test and the kidney. Everything else is as perfect as could be, he's growing fine, moving alot. They want me to do amniocentisis, I think the baby is fine and I don't think I need it. Has anyone else gone through this? What was the outcome. The tech that found it before the doctor said that it's normal on boys and shealso did see a penis, so IT'sa BOY!!!

oh my goodness im going through the same thing!!!! my little mans kidneys are dilated i guess. bigger then normal. its called pelvicaliectasis. did they give u a name for it? i have to get another u/s so i hope he grows out of it.

I'm sorry it took so long for me to re-post, i'm at work and I had alot of calls. So did you get amniocentisis? Did they tell you it could be a factor of DS? When's your next U/S?

i make the appointment for the next u/s tomorrow. but im thinking that if he hasn't grown out of it after that u/s then they will probably have my do an amneo. what is DS?

oh no i did the blood tests and they said im not a carrier for it.

so did ur doc give u any options besides an amneo? that idea scares me to death personally.   i hope he grows out of this and i dont need one.

No..not really. He just said that i needed to go back in 4 wks to see how it was doing. that hopefully by then the baby would discard the fluid.

Hey ladies. I am 21 weeks and go on wednesday for my next uktrasound. My little boys kidneys were fine, but the tubes from kidney to bladder were SLIGHTLY enlarged. He had a full bladder and was breech and in a ball. They tried to push testing on me, and when i declined, she admited that it can be normal for little boys to screen a little off in the kidney and tubes. I opted out of all testing because it will make no difference as to what the results are. Keep that in mind...

well i hope they do another u/s before they do the amneo. and i hope he grows out of it as with mine.

no it doesn't make a difference with me either. thats why i dont want the amneo. but i do want to get the next u/s to get the kidneys double checked. but if it something that the baby will live with then we will go on and deal with it when he makes his appearance.

So why do you think they push you to do it?? I mean the doctor was pushing me too...my OB told me the last time I went in and had that screening not to do the amnio. But this doctor was very pushy!!

because they do want to have the unknown when u deliver. they want to know everything. but sometimes u just got to put ur foot down and say no.
