Who Claims Your Child

Not to leave anyone out but this is for the unmarried girls or females not with there baby's Father.
When you file taxes do you claim your child, doe he, or do you take turns.?
At first i was going to take turns with my son's father. Since i claimed him last year he is supposed to this year but now i think i'm going to claim him. Now when he has a job he pays child suppourt( 146 every2weeks) but nothing else. He will go months and weeks with out even calling and when my son's b-day came up his father blew all his money at the strip club. He's bought my son's clothes about twice this year all together like 6shirts and 4pants/shorts. but thats it. No pampers not money for daycare no nothing and i'm the one strugglin to keep them apartment my son and i live in. Pay the bills and daycare. I'm the only one worrying about everything so i don't think he deserves to claim him. On top of that he has another child who he is on child support for and i know he's behind in both so the state would take the money anyway.

He lived with me so i claimed him...but it didnt matter since we were always a couple and handled finances together

I claim my son because I'm his primary parent. And from my understanding, child support is not tax deductable so the father cant claim him if you are.

yeah i 'm going to claim him. he's going to get an attitude but at this point i don't care. he was supposed to come see his son yesterday and never showed up or called. He see's his daughter all the time but my son can't get the same?? he really pisses me off

if youre the primary parent I wouldnt even consider letting the father claim your son any year. If you're the one that provides the majority of his stuff (house, food, clothes...everything) than you have every right to claim your son.
And I'm sorry your sons father is a piece of shit...my sons father is too. I hate men sometimes.

you should be able to claim head of household too if you claim him. which would give you extra money back.

My hubby and his ex-wifetrade offevery other year claiming their daughter; it's in their divorce settlement.

Whoever wants to claim him, usually the main caregiver, but only one can.

see if your the promary supporter (over 50 percent of support) you have the right to claim him..

last year i let my mom claim Kaylee.. but hear on out i will be claiming her.. Randy.. well he doesnt have a job he collects SSI and he hardly helpos out so it would be pointless to let him do it
