Glycerin Suppositories

My doctor told me to give my son a glycerin suppository for his constipation. I forgot to ask if there were any special instructions for doing it though since my son is only five weeks old and now my doctors office is closed for the weekend. Did anyone else have to give this to their infant? Did you have special instructions or are you supposed to just give the full dosage?

No my doctor told me not to use a full one only the tip cause he is a baby but I ended up not having to do that. He was 3-weeks at the time.

get the infants kind, break it in half, put it up there.

how many days has he gone without a poop?

My doctor said that sometimes all it takes is just stimulation to get them going,so I would just out the tip in myand hold onto it for a little while. That was all it took to get her going!!

almost a week. And I've tried everything. Bicycling his legs, warm baths, Karo Syrup (which my pediatrician recommended). The glycerin suppositories are the last thing if nothing happens I'm taking him to the hospital to check for a bowel obstruction.

aww poor baby.

my daughter couldn't poop on her own until she was 3 months. I had to go to rite aid or walmart and get the pediatric size glycerine sups and used them on her once or twice a day. I cut the tip off them, only used like a cm or less and usually right off the bat she'd have a bowel movement. Doctors say they can go a week or more not pooping. I couldn't imagine...
