In a carseat? Does it go by age or by weight?

Legally it's 20lbs. and one year old. But now they're saying to keep them backwards to at least one year and up to whatever the weight limit is on your carseat.

Ditto. I don't wanna chances with Kairie's pretty little face in an accident

My hubby is a firefighter/medic who installs carseats professionally. You want to keep the baby facing backwards as long as you can (factoring in their height/leg room). This is safest in an accident and does no harm as long as the baby can remain backwards comfortably. Sucks b/c you can't see them in the mirror though, eh?

yes mine is 20 lbs and his feet are just about smooshed against the back seat :T there would b no way a 2 year old would fit sitting that way! there feet hang off the carseat/plus they need a bigger one ????

Yes I aggree, the longerthe better. And they do have those mirrors for baby, so you can see them in your rear view .

One year and 20 lbs. If the baby doesn't meet either requirement then they cannot face forwards.

There are convertible car seats that are both forward and backward facing if the baby becomes to big for the infant seat before their 1st birthday.
