My labor story - Isabella Marie

posted 25th Sep
I had my 38 week check up on June 26. They checked my blood pressure and it was still high. So my doctor said I had to come in twice a week now to monitor the baby and to get blood work done. They hooked me up to the monitors to see if I was having any contractions and to monitor the baby. Isabella decided to take a nap so she wasn’t moving and therefore they wouldn’t let me leave until they saw that she was moving. She finally woke up and gave my results to the doctor. (Mind that I was already 3 cm dilated) My doctor came in and said the baby looked great but my amniotic fluid was at a 3 and anything below a 4 or 5 they start to worry. She told me to go to L&D and have them check me out again just to make sure but that I was probably going to be induced. I was so excited but at the same time nervous. Luckily L&D was only 15 minutes from my doctors office. I get to L&D tell them what’s going on and that my dr had called to let them know I was on my way. All I needed done was a ultrasound to check my amniotic levels. They don’t listen to me and hook me up to the machines to monitor my contractions and the baby for over an hour! Mind that I was just on that machine at my dr’s office for an hour and a half. I was so irritated. Finally a doctor came in and did an exam said that I was still at 3 cm, and my cervix was very thin. He did an ultrasound and said that it was best for them to deliver because if the fluids get any lower it can cause a lot of problems. So they brought me to my room and I got changed into my gown. They put me on the monitors and started me on Pitocin around 7:30 p.m. Luckily I was already having contractions on my own, lol. It wasn’t really that bad, around 10 p.m. my water broke and they checked me, I was 8 cm! I wanted my epidural at that time but found out that the anesthesiologist was in the ER so I may not be able to get it. I started freaking out. Luckily I ended up having time to get it. It was so hard to sit there when I was having contractions SO bad. Once I got my epidural I was in heaven, I couldn’t feel anything. Around midnight I started pushing, and I couldn’t feel when I had to push so instead of them lowering my epidural medicine they completely stopped it! I felt everything, I was so pissed. After a little over an hour Isabella Marie was born exactly 2 weeks early on June 27 at 1:25 a.m. weighing 5 pounds, 7 ounces and was 18 inches long. I tore a little and got about 3 stitches but other than that labor went well. That Sunday, mommy, daddy, and Izzy went home.

Here are some pictures
