Yeah like Hepatitis B for newborns...
When Hepatitis b is a sexually transmitted or needle sharing disease passed on by bodily fluids, and only protects for 7 years.
I have yet to meet a second grader who is sharing needles and having sex!

Not to mention Hep B is one of the most dangerous vaccines around. *shaking head*
And "THEY" are willing to risk human collateral to make up the cost of their research and development.
Not with my kid they wont.

And quite simply since we are tested for it while pregnant it's pretty safe to assume that if the hospital does their job, and if mommy is healthy the chances of the baby getting Hep B is teeeeeny tiny.

Aidan was given it without the consent of myself or my husband while I was unconcious after my c-section... I guess they simply assumed I was going to allow it. Had he had any reactions you can bet your ass I would've sued, and probably had a damn good case since they technically shouldn't have given it...

I will admit to having not done my homework in the past-Seth was fully vaccinated up to this point(hes 11 months now). But now working with a family who has 2 out of 3 kids placing on the spectrum (3rd is too young to tell), its definitly made me start rethinking some things. And reading today hit a little to close to home even w/ me-I was vaccinated for rubella in the hospital after having my son-never thought twice about it. Reading today I learned it has been proven that 15% of adult women who are vaccinated get arthritis linked to the vaccine and, while not actually tested to see if its caused by the vaccine, there have been complaints of spinal nerve pain, carpal tunnel etc linked to the vaccine as well-awfully coincedental that I started suffering from upper back and neck pain about 3 months ago. I'm in horrible pain daily now, nothing really helps with it-and it was never an issue for me before....

  I'm sorry!! That is awful.
It's frusterating to me that SOOOO many people suffer from chronic conditions like that, and *NOBODY* will do the neccessary research to find out what is causing all this auto immune disease and malfunction!?!
I think they already know the answer, and just dont want to admit it.

Does anyone have any advice on what to do about a pediatrician that is not on board with delaying vaccinations?

I stopped all vaccinations with my daughter when she was 9 months old because I started doing research and didn't want to get any more done until I had made up my mind on the safety of the vaccines-- I ultimately decided not to get them until a later date which has yet to be determined (she's 3 now.) The problem is when I decided not to vaccinate her the pediatrician decided he couldn't be our doctor anymore.

Now I have a son (2 weeks old) and I don't plan on vaccinating him either, and I'm worried his pediatrician is going to drop him as well. This was not as big of a deal with my daughter because she was perfectly healthy and has not needed any medical care, but my son has a kidney issue that needs to be monitored so I can't have the pediatrician dropping us. I'm unsure what to do =/

I would research and consult with as many pediatricians as necessary until you find one who respects your parenting decisions!
They do exist! You just have to find them.
A good place to start might be to look up Naturopathic doctors, or Chiropractors in your phone book and explain that you are looking for a Pediatrician in your area who is supportive or at least tolerant of vaccine choice... they will usually know a name or two of someone they could reccommend.   Good luck!

Agreed. Just keep looking, they ARE out there, just few and far between sometimes and don't always broadcast that they are lenient... I had to switch Aidan's dr around a few times to find one that was okay with our decisions. Unfortunately, now we've moved so I have to start all over, and it won't be as easy as before. Before we went to the military dr's at the Navy hospital, they can't turn you away, period. But now that we're in a place where everything is done out in town, I run the same risk of having your situation happen to us... it's tough, but it can all be done. Luckily though Aidan is 15 months and also very healthy so it's not as urgent as your predicament with your youngest.

Don't sign the consents. Your pediatrician is not allowed to do anything without your permission. Aidan had the Hep B even though I didn't sign the form, which was a big no-no on their part, but ever since then I just let it be known when I go in that he won't be receiving any vaccines... though he hasn't actually had a well baby since I think, 4 months...

Personally, I'd shop around and find another doctor who is more respecting of your choices as a parent!
May sound harsh, but so much less stressful than having this fight at every appointment, and being made to feel like a bad parent every time you go to the doctor.

*sigh* I love my pedi because of this. She's pro-vax, but she absolutely does not give us a hard time about selectively delaying certain shots. She even goes down the list with us and gives it to us straight. The nurses are sometimes...well...not rude, but ignorant. We stopped Donovan's Hep B after the newborn one, but we do all the others on schedule right now b/c he's in daycare, but since we skip Hep B, he gets 4 sticks instead of 3. And sometimes the nurses will make comments about him "getting an extra stick" since we're skipping. And I just wanna be like "Yeah, well, it doesn't hurt THAT BAD and I'd much rather him have one less vaccine running through his body right now that is totally unnecessary!" But I never do. But I want to.

I totally agree with you, Sharon...try to find a pedi who is at least willing to listen to your side, and won't give you a hard time even if they don't 100% agree.

ya she gave me a hard time at the first appointment when i told her she woldnt be getting any shots at ehr next apoinment but oh well...i just dont think its all needed this early! i work with kiddos who have autism so part of me is worried about that but on the other hand i just think its a better idea to hold off and give her time...she isnt in daycare or anything yet so i dont think its needed. i just hate arguing with any1 and she gets all weird and i think she is trying to argue lol
